Placing the Bible

Prayer of ConfessionMerciful God, the wise men went to great lengths to find the Christ child. Their long journey was a quest to worship the newborn King. In recent days we too have gone to great lengths to celebrate Jesus’ birth. Far too often our efforts have left us weary, not worshipful. We confess that at times our pursuit of the perfect Christmas causes us to miss the presence of Christ. Forgive our loss of focus on Jesus. Make us eager in these moments to truly worship the one who has come to us, full of grace and truth. May that grace renew our hearts as we offer our silent prayers of confession…

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be Thy name.Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done

on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts

as we forgive our debtors,And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evilFor Thine is the kingdom and the

power and the glory forever. Amen.

Offering Our GiftsJesus, What a Wonderful Child arr. Rollo Dillworth

Refrain Jesus, Jesus,

Oh what a wonderful Child!Jesus, Jesus, so lowly meek and mild.New life, new hope, to all He brings.Listen to the angels sing!Glory, glory, glory to the newborn King!

He was heralded by the angels, yes born in a lowly manger

God chose the virgin as His motherAnd Joseph as His earthly father.Three wisemen travelin’ from afarThey were guided by that shining starTo see King Jesus where He layIn a manger full of hay. (Refrain)

Some traveled north, some traveled south to see this wonderful Child,

Some traveled east, some traveled west to see this wonderful Child. (Refrain)

Read the whole Bible in a year for only 10 to 15 minutes a day!

The Bible can seem like an intimidating book to read. Perhaps you’ve wanted to read the whole Bible but get bogged down and overwhelmed, not knowing how to get started or how to keep going.

The Read the Book plan will email the reading selections to you each morning, for you to read at your convenience—on your computer, a tablet, or your phone. Read while waiting in line or between appointments. No links to click or sites to visit. Only the simple, pure, powerful and eternal Word of God.

Read the entire Bible in about 10–15 minutes a day with three to four chapters in your inbox, or read the New Testament in about 5 minutes a day with a single chapter in your inbox, five days a week.

A new yearly plan starts on January 1.
