The Importance ofGod's LawIn Mr. Schumm's 6th gradeCatechism class, the students arelearning about the importance andthe reasons for God giving us the TenCommandments.Students were given random objects

and were told to create a game. A good game hasrules and prevents chaos. They realized how im-portant rules are to a game, thus they alsolearned how important God's Law is for our lives.

    NEW PLAYGROUND SURFACE

    NEEDED

Right now we are in the process of mak-ing some repairs to our playground so itwill be in tip-top shape by the timespring rolls around. Our playground getsa lot of hard use and so these repairs areinevitable. We also need to replace thewoodchips on our playground and wouldlike to get rid of the wood chips and re-place them with a 6 layer of rubber

mulch to improve safety on our muchused playground. The cost is approx.$13,000. We are hoping that we can usesome of our Race for Education Funds aswell as some Gala Funds that have notbeen designated. However, that will notcover the costs. We are looking for somealternative ways to raise the additionalfunds either through private donations orother fundraising events. If you have anyideas, please pass them on to one of our

    staff.

"On your mark...get set...GO! Our 8thgraders were racing this past week as theyparticipated in a Math lab that tested theirabilities to classify quadrilaterals. Around

the gym were different classifications for

quadrilaterals. Some of the classificationswere 1) all angles add up to 360 degrees 2)has two pairs of parallel lines 3)contains

    four rightan-

gles. With a partner(s) they had to take theirassigned quadrilateral post-its and racearound the gym sticking them on the corre-sponding attributes before racing back to the"finished" square. It was a fun and engaginglearning opportunity during our geometrychapter."Miss Schultz
