Dear Professor Campbell, To start off I would like to say I really enjoyed reading your letter and I am so excited for this class. My name is Seaira Baker. I was born in Southern Minnesota and lived in a small town called Elmore, population 645, until I was about 10 years old. I lived with my mom and my twin sister Sidnee, who is also a student here at UNCC. An interesting fact about us is that we all share the same birthday. Imagine having twins on your birthday! At least she got a cake in the hospital. The three of us took a trip to Conover, North Carolina when I was in third grade so I could meet my dad, my half-brother, and everyone in my dad’s family that I never met before. I met my dad when I was 2 but obviously I didn’t remember that. That’s what brought me to North Carolina because on that trip my dad proposed to my mom and it was all downhill from there. Okay, I’m kidding, but my life since then has definitely been a journey. I could write pages and pages about my rollercoaster of a life but instead I’ll save you the boring details and tell you what my family is doing now. After 14 moves between two different states and six different cities, I am now living in Gastonia with my mom, who got a new job as a clinical lead, my twin sister, and as of last month my boyfriend Jay. He has had quite a journey himself which is why both my family and I adore him. I can really appreciate and admire someone who can overcome life’s most difficult obstacles and still without any excuses be successful. My dad is still living in Conover and is now a resource officer at my old middle school and he loves hearing the daily “Oh, Danny, how are the girls? They are already in college? Wow, where has the time gone?” from all of our old teachers. My brother and his girlfriend, who is a twin, now have my beautiful niece and twin nephews, so I think we have enough twins in our family. Telling people about the things I like to do is sort of difficult to me because I am average at anything I do and I like to do a little bit of everything. I do love sports though. My favorite sport is volleyball. In high school I was the captain of our team for three years. We won a state championship my sophomore year. I was never the best on the team but my coach called me her “special one” because I was so dedicated and I had a great attitude. I also know the sport like the back of my hand and even though I was not as athletic as

Dear Professor Campbell,

To start off I would like to say I really enjoyed reading your letter and I am so excited for this class. My name is Seaira Baker. I was born in Southern Minnesota and lived in a small town called Elmore, population 645, until I was about 10 years old. Okay, Im kidding, but my life since then has definitely been a journey. He has had quite a journey himself which is why both my family and I adore him. I can really appreciate and admire someone who can overcome lifes most difficult obstacles and still without any excuses be successful. Wow, where has the time gone? from all of our old teachers. I was never the best on the team but my coach called me her special one because I was so dedicated and I had a great attitude. I also know the sport like the back of my hand and even though I was not as athletic as others I always had an advantage because I played smart, well and my serve is pretty amazing. I really do miss volleyball, I decided not to play in college and it is like a part of me is missing because I dedicated my life to the sport in high school. My life at UNCC has not been what I expected. I usually sugarcoat my answer when someone asks me how my first semester was, but honestly I am not a fan of college so far. I didnt make any friends, I didnt get along with my roommate, I could only afford to buy one book, and I had way too much personal stuff going on to even focus. I still managed to get decent grades, but looking back that is not at all how I wanted my first semester to be. However, being the optimist that I usually tend to be, I am still looking forward to this semester. I am thinking of it as my fresh start. I am now rooming with my twin who is at her SOAR session right now as I type. Even though we argue daily I dont feel like myself without her. Also, I hate not knowing what to expect so coming into college not knowing anything really bothered me and now that I have conquered one semester I know what I need to do to be successful. Currently, I am just a college student hoping to make my life something meaningful. I have set out a few goals for myself because to me the feeling of accomplishment is one of the greatest feelings ever. I also love making lists, its kind of an obsession, so why not make a list of goals. One of my biggest goals in life right now is to own a home. Once I become a home owner I will feel like all the work I put into everything will be worth it. Some people dont understand why that is so important to me but I will probably cry when it happens. Tears of joy of course.

I could go on all day about myself but I hope I included enough for you to know me a little better. The most important thing I want my professors to know is that I am a hard worker. I want to be successful and I know I cant do that by sitting around. I am looking forward to this semester and this class.
