From the Parish Priest Dear Parishioners, It seems hard to believe that we are more than half way through Advent and the season of our Saviour’s birth at Christmas is so near. Please God amid all the busyness we are finding opportunities for quiet time to enter into generous prayer and reflection on the sacred mystery of God becoming man for our salvation. Jesus Christ is truly Divine Mercy in the flesh and he gives his flesh and blood soul and divinity to us in the Holy Eucharist - how wondrous God is in His love and mercy toward each of us! It is also the Lord Jesus who, through his earthly priest, forgives our sins and reconciles us to the Father in confession before Christmas and always. Please also pray for Fr Chandler and his whole family at this difficult time. I am very pleased to let you know that the storm damaged stained glass windows in Mary Immaculate Church are in the process of being removed to be taken away for repair. I am now informed that they will be refitted before Easter next year. A final reminder about the volunteers thank you Christmas drinks next Friday. I do hope that many volunteers will be able to drop in for a while that evening at the Parish Office, anytime between 5:00pm and 7:00pm. Our reflection this week is a powerful Litany of trust in the mercy of Christ. As we pray a Litany like this it is helpful to recall that the mercy all of us need first, is the grace of a repentant heart to turn away from sin and be determined to amend our lives. It is at this point that a person opens their heart to be capable of receiving mercy. The initiative of grace and mercy always belongs to God first and then there needs to be our free response to accept these undeserved gifts. These gifts are always abundantly offered us, beyond all measure, through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Saviour whose birth we are preparing to celebrate. To ensure the uninterrupted flow of this Litany, it appears in full on Page 2. Below are some important notices, including Christmas Mass times and extra pre-Christmas confession times. Litany of Trust in the Mercy of Christ

Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we have placed our trust in Thee. For myself, a poor sinner, I trust in Thy mercy. For all whom I have offended, I trust in Thy mercy. For all who have offended me, I trust in Thy mercy. For all whom Thou hast brought into my life, I trust in Thy mercy. For all whom Thou hast entrusted to my prayer, I trust in Thy mercy. For all Thy priests, I trust in Thy mercy. For my family I trust in Thy mercy. For the sick, I trust in Thy mercy. For the dying, I trust in Thy mercy. For prisoners, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who are farthest from Thee, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who persecute Thee in the members of Thy Mystical Body, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who kill Thee in the unborn, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who perpetrate violence, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who harbour resentment in their hearts, I trust in Thy mercy.

For those enslaved to money, pleasure, and power, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who treat with irreverence, mockery, and scorn, the adorable Mysteries of Thy Body and Blood, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who blaspheme Thy Most Holy Name, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who dishonour Sunday, the Day of Thy Resurrection, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who revile Thy Bride, the Church, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who have fallen away from the Holy Catholic Faith, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who are consumed by hatred, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who will face death in despair, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who remain impenitent in their last hour, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who have taken their own lives, I trust in Thy mercy. For all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who will die this day, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who no longer believe in mercy, I trust in Thy mercy. For those who refuse to show mercy, I trust in Thy mercy. For all poor sinners, I trust in Thy mercy. Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we have placed our trust in Thee.

Third Sunday of Advent - Year C

12th/13th December 2015

ADVENT WREATH PRAYERS: Third Candle Celebrant: O ROOT OF JESSE, that stands for an ensign of the people, before whom the kings keep silence and unto whom the Gentiles shall make supplication:

Response: COME, to deliver us and do not delay.

Celebrant: O KEY OF DAVID, and Sceptre of the House of Israel, who opens and no man shuts, who shuts and no man opens:

Response: COME, and bring forth the captive from his prison, he who sits in darkness and in the shadow of death. Amen

SUNDAY MASS READINGS

First Reading: Zephaniah 3:14-18

Shout for joy, daughter of Zion, Israel, shout aloud! Rejoice, exult with all your heart, daughter of Jerusalem! The Lord has repealed your sentence; he has driven your enemies away. The Lord, the king of Israel, is in your midst; you have no more evil to fear. When that day comes, word will come to Jerusalem: Zion, have no fear, do not let your hands fall limp. The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult with joy over you, he will renew you by his love; he will dance with shouts of joy for your as on a day of festival.

The Word of the Lord

Response: Thanks be to God

Responsorial Psalm (Said by all)

Truly, God is my salvation, I trust, I shall not fear. For the Lord is my strength, my song, he became my saviour. With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

Give thanks to the Lord, give praise to his name! Make his mighty deeds known to the peoples! Declare the greatness of his name.

Sing a psalm to the Lord for he has done glorious deeds, make them known to all the earth! People of Zion, sing and shout for joy for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.

Second Reading: Philippians 4: 4-7

I want you to be happy, always happy in the Lord; I repeat, what I want is your happiness. Let your tolerance be evident to everyone: the Lord is very near. There is no need to worry; but if there is anything you need, pray for it, asking God for it with prayer and thanksgiving, and that peace of God, which is so much greater that we can understand, will guard your hearts and your thoughts, in Christ Jesus.

The Word of the Lord

Response: Thanks be to God

Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia, alleluia! The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; he sent me to bring Good News to the poor.

Alleluia!

Gospel: Luke 3:10-18

When all the people asked John, "What must we do?" he answered, "If anyone has two tunics he must share with the man who has none, and the one with something to eat must do the same." There were tax collectors too who came for baptism, and these said to him, "Master what must we do?" He said to them, "Exact no more than your rate." Some soldiers asked him in turn, "What about us? What must we do?" He said to the, "No intimidation! No extortion! Be content with your pay!"

A feeling of expectancy had grown among the people, who were beginning to think that John might be the Christ, so John declared before them all, "I baptise you with water, but someone is coming, someone who is more powerful than I am, and I am not fit to undo the strap of his sandals; he will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing-fan is in his hand to clear his threshing-floor and to gather the wheat into his barn; but the chaff he will burn in a fire that will never go out." As well as this, there were many other things he said to exhort the people and to announce the Good News to them.

The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Memorial Acclamation: Number Three Save us, Saviour of the world, for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free.
