Residents had troubles with appliance warranties and a home warranty company. One reader was charged for a dating service he never joined, while another couldn’t get his money back for a simple purchase: an electric toothbrush. Transferring an individual retirement account and closing a small savings account at a bank was trouble for one Lacey resident. We helped to unwind and straighten out many problems. Others we couldn’t fix. Scammers continued to plague Jersey Shore resi- dents, hitting at them with a torrent of fake letters and phone calls. Some people fought back and some got educated.
