You only need to think about all thebills you have in your life and the inter-actions you have with companies everyday to realize that sometimes thingscan go wrong.
Problems can occur and, in 2015,Press on Your Side saw plenty of them.
Old electric bills were charged to the wrong per-son. Residents had troubles with appliance warrantiesand a home warranty company. One reader wascharged for a dating service he never joined, whileanother couldn’t get his money back for a simplepurchase: an electric toothbrush. Transferring anindividual retirement account and closing a smallsavings account at a bank was trouble for one Laceyresident.
We helped to unwind and straighten out many
problems. Others we couldn’t fix.Scammers continued to plague Jersey Shore resi-
dents, hitting at them with a torrent of fake lettersand phone calls. Some people fought back and somegot educated. It’s clear that fraudsters leave devas-tation in their wake.
