Walk for Life West Coast 2016: Join fellow pro-lifers as we stand up for women and the littlest among us at the 12th Annual Walk for Life West Coast (www.walkforlifewc.com) in San Francisco on January 23, 2016. The pre-walk rally begins at 12:30 p.m. in San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza, and the walk down the city’s Market Street, begins at 1:30 p.m. St. Lucy’s is taking a bus. Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help: The Wednesday Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help is cancelled for the remainder of the year and will resume with the first Wednesday Novena-Mass next year on January 6, 2016.
SIMBANG GABI (Nine-Day Novena of Dawn Masses) The "Simbang Gabi", a devotional nine-day Novena of dawn Masses before Christmas Day will begin on Wednesday, De-cember 16 until Thursday, December 24. The nine-day daily dawn masses are celebrated in English and start at 5:30AM. Set within the season of Advent, Simbang Gabi invites participants to heighten their preparation for the birth of Jesus, as well as honor the Blessed Virgin. Everyone is invited to at-tend and experience this nine-day devotion. Breakfast reception at the PAC will follow after each dawn mass.
We all experience the rush of excitement and joy during the last few days before Christmas. Our 4th Sun-day of Advent marks the reality that the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is near at hand. It is a time to do the last bits of spiritual house cleaning and we prepare to welcome and be welcomed by God and his holy family.
We are also walking the first days of the Year of Mercy. Christmas and mercy have an undeniable link. It is in and through the incarnation, the coming of Jesus as true God and true man, that the hand of mer-cy is planted into our world to be extended to all people.
It is the hand of mercy that we are called to extend to our family in the seeking of healing as we celebrate the joy of Christmas in actions both great and small.
This is a small act of mercy that I wish all of us to participate in this celebration of Christmas. The church will be fuller than normal. The parking lot will be much more crowded. People will be sitting in seats that normally are our own and the chatter of excitement may disturb the time of prayer we want to enjoy.
Please extend a greeting of hope and a smile of blessing to our guests at Christmas Mass as we in mercy and love, see the face of Christ in them.

SCRIPTURE STUDIES
The St. Lucy Scripture Study Group will be exploring the Gospel of Matthew starting January 11 and January 14, 2016 in PAC B. The Monday evening class will begin at 7 pm and the Thurs-day morning class at 10 am. Both classes are identical, and will last for 10 weeks. All are invited to attend and no previous bible study experience is necessary. The suggested donation to cover the cost of the course is $20. Todos experimentamos la emoción y alegría en los últimos días antes de la Navidad. El cuarto do-mingo de Adviento marca la realidad de que el nacimiento de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo se acerca. Es un tiempo para hacer la última limpieza en la casa espiritual y para prepararnos para dar la bienvenida y ser recibidos por Dios y su santa familia.
También estamos al principio del Año de la Misericordia. Es innegable que la Navidad y la misericor-dia están enlazados. Es a través de la encarnación, la venida de Jesús como verdadero Dios y verdadero hombre, que la mano de la misericordia se planta en nuestro mundo para que se extienda a todas las personas.
Es la mano de la misericordia que hemos sido llamados a extender a nuestra familia en la búsqueda de la curación al celebrar la alegría de la Navidad en las acciones grandes y pequeñas.
En la celebración de Navidad, deseo que todos participen con un pequeño acto de misericordia. La iglesia estará más llena de lo normal. El estacionamiento estará más lleno. La gente va a estar sentada en los asientos que normalmente son los nuestros y la charla de emoción puede alterar el tiempo de oración que queremos disfrutar.
Por favor, ofrezca un saludo de esperanza y una sonrisa de bendición para nuestros invitados en la Misa de la Navidad, ya que con la misericordia y el amor, vemos el rostro de Cristo en ellos.

Does your child need reading, writing and homework help?
In January, St. Lucy’s Church will start offering tutoring and assistance to students of ele-mentary school, who are struggling in reading and writing. Support with homework and study skills will also be provided.
If you are interested your child participate in this program, please fill an application and turn it at the Parish office. Submitting an application does not guarantee your child’s acceptance into the program. Students with the highest need (based on report card information) will be selected. If your child is ac-cepted, you will be contacted by January 15th,, 2016. Fee for the program is $20.00
