Friday 7th February 2020 Dear Parents Matthew’s Gospel this weekend calls us to be both ‘salt and light’ in a world that can often be somewhat ‘bland and dark’. It is perhaps fitting that we are able to formally welcome Canon Michael, our own spiritual leader and champion of ‘salt and light’, back to the Parish this weekend. Many of you know that cycling is a passion of mine and my main form of exercise. I can recommend the views and the fresh air….. However, this week cycling took a very different turn with the Rollapaluza spinning sessions, arranged through an organisation called ‘Cycling Instructor.’ Children (and staff!) had to race one another over a distance of 250m. My time of 19.06 was surely a personal best for me - but it was well short of the times recorded by some of the children and staff in school (Mr Paul managed 16 seconds!). We look forward to having them back again later in the year! It was great fun all round! This week has been Children’s Mental Health awareness week. We celebrated ‘Inside out day’ in school today, where everyone was invited to wear an item of clothing inside out. This was to represent that we are not always feeling inside, how we appear to be on the outside. There has been a focus on positive mental health activities, including workshops to manage anxiety and healthy eating. Children in Years 5 and 6 went to take part in a unique production of Oliver! At the New Wimbledon Theatre. The slightly alternative version of the play was arranged by the MMF and enjoyed by the pupils who attended. This will be the final newsletter of this half term as we have an INSET day on a Friday next week. I wanted to let you know that as part of a course I am following on ‘What Makes Great Catholic Schools’, I will be visiting schools in the Cairns Diocese, Australia for the week after half term. Education systems around the world have a lot to teach us and being outward looking is part of our core value of Ambition. I look forward to sharing my findings upon my return and ensuring that we continue to shine in all that we do! We are both blessed and privileged to have Archbishop John Wilson to join us at the 11am Mass this Sunday. Another challenging time for our Parish has come to an end and a new chapter begins. Each of us are all called to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth. With Christ’s love, anything is possible. We have been requested by local residents to ask our parents NOT to park on the grassed area opposite Montacute Road, in Middleton Road. The grass has been churned, muddy and looks unsightly. Please refrain from parking on the grass at all times. Thanking you in advance for your consideration. God bless. Friday 7th February

2020Dear Parents

Matthew’s Gospel this weekend calls us to be both ‘salt and light’ in a world that can often be somewhat ‘bland and dark’.

God bless.

Sports News

On Tuesday our KS2 swimming team competed in the Morden swimming gala heats. The children showed their great swimming techniques and swam very fast, finishing 1st in most of their races. Scores from all swimmers across all 5 heats will be compared, to see which children qualify for the finals. We are hoping the results will be announced next week.

Today we took our year 3&4 gymnastics team to a competition. We wish them all the very best and will confirm results in the next Friday Flyer.

Please see the advert attached, offering £1 tickets for children, at AFC Wimbledon Football ground for tomorrow’s game. This will be AFC Wimbledon playing Fleetwood Town. Visit their website to secure tickets!
