Barnes & Noble, Inc. (212-633-3300) will open a two-story, 40,000 sq.ft. Barnes & Noble bookstore at Asheville Mall, a 931,262 sq.ft. mall located in Asheville, NC, during March. The store will replace the company’s existing 23,000 sq.ft. store located along South Tunnel Road in Asheville. The tenant joins Best Buy Mobile, Quiznos, Sugar Mama’s, Bella Donna and Earthbound Trading Co. The company also plans to open a 28,000 sq.ft. store at Biltmore Park, a shopping center development located at the intersection of Long Shoals Road and Interstate 26 in Buncombe County, NC, during August or September. The company currently operates 799 stores nationwide including 20 throughout NC.

L.L.Bean, Inc. (207-552-3028) will open two L.L.Bean stores this year, down from an earlier plan of eight openings nationwide. The stores feature men’s, women’s and children’s apparel and outdoor equipment.

Trader Joe’s Co. (626-599-3700) is slated to open a Trader Joe’s grocery store in St. Paul, MN. The opening will be the company’s fourth in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN metropolitan area.

The Sports Authority, Inc. (303-200-5050) will open a The Sports Authority location and anchor the second phase of Bridge Street, a mixed-use development located in Huntsville, AL, this fall. Stymies barbershop, The Melting Pot fondue restaurant, Frock Candy clothing shop and Vintage Wine & Cigars are slated to open locations at the center during the first quarter of this year, with The Station scheduled to open a 28,000 sq.ft. location at the center during the summer. The tenants join Coldwater Creek, Chico’s, Old Navy, Barnes & Noble, Monaco Pictures and La Bella Gondolas.

Save-A-Lot Food Stores, Inc. (314-592-9100) is slated to open a Save-A-Lot location along Southwest Texas Street in Hoxie, AR. The discount grocer is scheduled to open during the middle of this month.

Small Dog Electronics (802-496-7171) plans to open locations throughout MA; NH and Albany, NY during the next two years in addition to opening smaller stores throughout VT. The stores, selling Apple computers and electronics, operate throughout the “white spaces” of New England where Apple, Inc. does not have a retail presence.

Menard, Inc. (715-876-2224) is slated to open a 240,000 sq.ft. Menards Superstore along Ludington Street in Escanaba, MI during March. The home improvement store will feature a full-service lumber yard and a partially-covered garden area, along with grocery, pet supply and appliance departments. The opening will replace an existing location in the city. The company currently operates 245 locations throughout 12 states. Mackinac Financial Corp. (906-341-8401) is slated to open an mBank location within the store, the company’s first branch within a store. The company currently operates 12 locations throughout MI, including eight locations in the upper peninsula and four in the lower peninsula.

The Cypress Inn (205-345-6963) is slated to open a restaurant concept at a mixed-use project located at the intersection of Sixth Street and 23rd Avenue in Tuscaloosa, AL during the fall.
