Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. (516-507-3410) is slated to open between 50 and 54 locations this year, including as many as 35 Bed Bath & Beyond stores nationwide and throughout Canada, between six and eight Christmas Tree Shops and eight to 10 buybuy Baby stores nationwide and one Harmon store. During 2008, the company opened 67 stores, including 49 Bed Bath & Beyond stores, 11 Christmas Tree Shops stores, one Harmon store and six buybuy Baby stores while closing one Harmon store. The company currently operates 1,037 stores, selling domestics and home furnishings along with food, giftware, health, beauty care and infant and toddler merchandise, throughout North America, including four locations in Canada and two stores in Mexico operating under a joint venture and trading as Home & More.

Barney’s New York (888-222-7639) is slated to open an 80,000 sq.ft. department store at Scottsdale Fashion Square, located in Scottsdale, AZ, during the fall. The company currently operates nine of the stores nationwide, selling men’s and women’s apparel along with cosmetics, housewares and jewelry, in addition to 19 Barneys Co-Op stores and 13 outlet stores.

Chattanooga Bakery, Inc. (432-267-3351) is slated to open a temporary Moon Pie General Store in Mobile, AL for six months beginning this November, with the possibility of opening a permanent location in the city during the fall of 2010. The store will sell Moon Pies and Moon Pie-themed shirts, hats, toys and gifts.

Recreational Equipment, Inc. (253-395-3780) is planning to open a two-level, 27,000 sq.ft. REI store at Canyon View Marketplace, a 75,000 sq.ft. development situated on nine acres along Market Street in Grand Junction, CO. The store will offer apparel and accessories for adventure sports and will replace an existing smaller store located along North Avenue in the city.

Aldi, Inc. (630-879-8100) will open an Aldi supermarket at the intersection of Wickham Road and Eau Gallie Boulevard in Melbourne, FL during October. The private-label supermarkets occupy spaces of 17,000 sq.ft. The opening will be the company’s sixth in Brevard County, FL and is one of 12 stores the company plans to open in FL this year. The company opened 24 stores throughout central FL during 2008.

Travinia Italian Kitchen (864-458-8188) plans to open a 6,423 sq.ft. restaurant at Biltmore Park Town Square, located in Asheville, NC. The Italian casual dining restaurants feature a menu of pasta, steak and seafood along with specialty martinis and wines for dinner, with additional sandwiches and wraps during lunch. The company currently operates four locations throughout Columbia, Greenville, Lexington and Myrtle Beach, SC.

Panera Bread Co. (314-633-7100) will open a 3,500 sq.ft. Panera Bread bakery and café at Richmond Centre, located along Interstate 75 in Richmond, KY, during September. The tenant joins Ann’s Hallmark, Koto Japanese Bistro, Chick-fil-A and Olive Garden.

LA Fitness International, LLC (949-255-7200) will open a 45,000 sq.ft. LA Fitness health club at Lawrence Commons, an 85,000 sq.ft. project situated on 10 acres at the intersection of Pendleton Pike and East 56th Street in Lawrence, IN. The location will feature a swimming pool and will be the company’s eighth in the greater Indianapolis, IN area. The fitness center is slated to open by the end of this year. The tenant joins Firestone.
