    The rundown

    1. Each student is required to have a spiral notebook thatwill be entitled Daily Language Activities

    2. All DLA Notebooks are to be kept in the classroom inyour periods designated bin.

    3. You are expected to retrieve your DLA notebook uponentering the room and turning it into the bin whenexiting the room.

    4. Once DLA notebook is retrieved, you are to sit in yourseat and complete the given DLA activity found on theoverhead. Ideally, you should be copying down the

    information before the bell rings.5. Periodic, yet random, grading checks will occur at

    which point extra credit will be awarded for well-organized and completed Daily LanguageActivities.

    An old commercial for anti-wrinkle facial cream used, "Looking good is every

    woman's right."

    Cell phone commercials are notorious for this. Each carrier carefully devises some

    supposedly statistical reason why they're better than every competitor without

    actually resorting to using the same false statistical reasons as said competitors.

    "America's largest network," or "No wonder so many people choose our network," or

    "America's fastest growing network" are a couple of common ones.

    America Online used to do this in its commercials a lot: "So easy to use, no wonder

    it's #1!"

    Pretty much almost any internet/cable TV/satellite TV/phone ad out there. If there are

    identical services between companies, it's a fact that they will claim to be the best or

    "prove" they are cheaper by showing random pricing between them and the

    competition. Car ads also fall under this heavily, usually resorting to magazines claiming how they

    say the car is the best.

    Glittering generality

    uses slogans or simple phrases that soundgood but provide little or no information. "You will feel so muchbetter" is an example. There is no explanation of how this productcould make you feel better.

    Emotional word repetition repeats the same word or feeling.Protect your family.Buy our alarm system to provide protection forthe ones you love. Protect and family / ones you love arerepeated.

    For your commercial, choose a product from the list. You mustmake up a name for the product that you select.
