Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the root cause of problems facing Shanghai Cooperation Organization region is increasing radicalisation. He said, recent developments in Afghanistan have made challenges posed by radicalisation more clear. Addressing the Plenary Session of the 21st Meeting of SCO Council of Heads of State through video conferencing, Mr Modi said fight against radicalisation is not only needed for regional security and trust but also to ensure bright future of the youth. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), or Shanghai Pact, is a Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance, the creation of which was announced on 15 June 2001 in Shanghai, China by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran. 1. PM Modi addresses plenary session of SCO meeting atDushanbe; asks member states to fight against increasingradicalization.

● Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the root cause of problems facing Shanghai Cooperation Organization region is increasing radicalisation. He said, recent developments in Afghanistan have made challenges posed by radicalisation more clear.

2. Railways launches Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana.

● Railways has launched Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana, aprogramme under the aegis of Pradhan Mantri KaushalVikas Yojana.

● It empowers youth by way of providing entry-level trainingin industry relevant skills through Railway TrainingInstitutes as part of 75 years of independence 'Azadi kaAmrit Mahotsav'.

● The training will be provided to 50 thousand candidatesover a period of three years.

● Initially, the training will be provided to one thousandcandidates in four trades - Electrician, Welder, Machinistand Fitter. It will comprise of initial basic training of 100hours.

● Candidates who are 10th pass and between 18 to 35 yearsshall be eligible to apply.

5. Union Minister Narayan Rane lays foundation stone fordevelopment park in J&K

● In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, as part ofPublic Outreach Programme launched by the CentralGovernment, Minister for Micro, Small and MediumEnterprises (MSME) Narayan Rane.

● Mr Rane said that the Central Government is committed toprovide enhanced basic facilities to people at theirdoorsteps.

● He asked for maintaining a strong coordination betweenthe administration and the people for effectiveimplementation of various welfare and developmentprogrammes launched by the government.

6. Health Minister inaugurates many patient-centric facilities atSafdarjung Hospital.

● He inaugurated a Child Abuse Care and Elder Abuse CareCentre in the New Block of the Hospital, the thirdPM-CARES Pressure Swing Adsorption Oxygen Plant ofcapacity one metric tonne and the new makeshift hospitalat the hospital premises.

● He released a booklet — Quality Ki Baat and presented thehospital its entry level National Accreditation Board forHospitals and Health Care Providers, NABH accreditationcertificate.

7. I&B Minister Anurag Thakur, Health Minister MansukhMandaviya jointly launch 15 Mobile Medical Units for HimachalPradesh.

● Mr Thakur said, the government has provided six lakhpeople with the facility of free testing, treatment andmedicines in six years. He said, the government aims atextending it to 21 lakh more people in next five years whenthese vehicles double in number

● Health Minister Mandaviya said, a few years ago,Obamacare was brought in the United States providinghealth security to 10 crore people. He said, it wasappreciated across the world.

● Mr Mandaviya said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi providedhealth security up to five lakh rupees not to 10 crorepeople, but 10 crore families including around 50 crorepeople.

8. iRASTE: Nitin Gadkari launches AI-powered road safetyproject that aims to reduce accidents by 50%

● “iRASTE”, an Artificial Intelligence-powered project, on a pilotbasis in Nagpur in Maharashtra with the aim of reducing accidentsby 50 per cent.

● A collaborative effort between the government, Intel, INAI,IIIT-Hyderabad, CSIR-CRRI (Central Road Research Institute),Mahindra & Mahindra and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), theproject will focus on vehicle safety, mobility analysis and roadinfrastructure safety to move towards a “Vision Zero” accidentscenario, a release said.

9. World Patient Safety Day- 17 SEPTEMBER

● World Patient Safety Day (WPSD), observed annually on 17September, aims to raise global awareness about patientsafety and call for solidarity and united action by allcountries and international partners to reduce patient harm

● World Patient Safety Day – established by the World HealthAssembly in 2019 through resolution WHA72.6 on “Globalaction on patient safety” is observed annually on 17September. It was adopted at the 72nd World HealthAssembly on 25 May 2019.

10. Former Supreme Court judge Indu Malhotra appointed DDCAOmbudsman cum Ethics Officer

● Former Supreme Court judge and one of India’s foremostlegal luminaries, Justice (Retired) Indu Malhotra will be thenew Ombudsman cum Ethics Officer of Delhi and DistrictsCricket Association (DDCA).

● The DDCA’s general body, headed by its president RohanJaitley, decided on 65-year-old Justice (Retd) Malhotra’sappointment.

● In 2007, Malhotra was designated senior advocate by theSupreme Court and she became only the second woman tobe designated by the apex court after a gap of threedecades.
