Internet Explorer Installation Guide and Machine Setup There are four steps which need to be completed in order to have all of CURA’s features function accurately. Please complete this workbook to ensure all settings are completed before beginning to use CURA.

Internet Explorer Configuration If you are running Internet Explorer version 10 or 11 (I.E. 10 or I.E.11), you will need to ensure it is running in Compatibility Mode.

Using the Correct Browser Version The first requirement for using CURA is to ensure that you are using the correct version of Internet Explorer. If you are using a 32bit machine you may skip this step as there will be only one browser version on your computer.

If you are using a 64bit machine, you will have two versions of Internet Explorer to choose from, so please follow the below steps to access the 32bit Internet Explorer browser when using a 64bit machine.

Please Note:

If using Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 DO NOT use the Internet Explorer App to access CURA.

1. Begin by selecting the windows explorer icon from your taskbar.




2. Select your Local C Drive. You will notice that you have two folders, one called Program Files, and the other called Program Files (x86). Go into the Program Files (x86) folder.

3. Within the Program Files (x86) folder, select the Internet Explorer folder next.




4. Within the Internet Explorer folder, select iexplore from the list by double clicking it.




5. Double clicking will trigger Internet Explorer to open in the correct version so that you may proceed with the remaining setup steps.

6. Once you have selected the correct browser, right click on the Internet Explorer icon on your taskbar and select Pin to Taskbar so that it is available for you to use going forward.




Compatibility Mode 1. Start by entering your CURA URL, provided by your Implementation Specialist, into the address

field of your browser.

The URL is specific to each on our clients, so please ensure you are using the one provided to you.

2. When you select Enter on your keyboard to go to the CURA webpage, if the screen displays on the left hand side, then your browser is not yet running in Compatibility Mode.

Select the Compatibility Mode option from within the Tools menu of the browser to correct the view.




3. The page will refresh with the Login screen centered.

4. To ensure your browser remains in Compatibility Mode, select the Tools tab from your browser menu again and select Compatibility View Settings.




5. Ensure that mindscope.com is in the “Websites you’ve added to Compatibility View:” section. If it is not there, add it to the “Add this website:” field and select the Add button.

6. Select Close and proceed with logging into CURA by entering your corporate email address into the Username field, and the password provided by your Implementation Specialist into the Password field, or the password you have already configured. Then, select the Login button.




Internet Explorer Settings The next step is to ensure your browser is set up accurately.

1. Once you have signed into CURA in your Internet Explorer browser, use the Tools tab from the

top menu of the browser to scroll down and select Internet Options.




Temporary Files in Internet Explorer

1. Select Settings from within the Browsing History section of the General tab.




2. Select Every time you start Internet Explorer and select OK.




Add CURA to Local Intranet

1. The following settings page will then open. Select the second tab within the page labeled Security and select Trusted Sites.




2. Select the Sites button and add your CURA URL to the list by starting to type “curaweb” into the field and selecting your CURA site from the resulting list of allowed websites. Once the URL is in the list, select Close.




Remove pop-up blockers for CURA

1. Next, navigate to the Privacy tab from the Internet Options page. Ensure that the Turn on Pop- up Blocker checkbox is selected, and then select the Settings button.




2. Again, add CURA to the list by starting to type “curaweb” into the field and selecting your CURA site from the resulting list of allowed sites. Once the URL is in the list, select Close.




3. Select Close from the Internet Options window and then proceed to close your browser to activate your setting changes and reopen it to sign back into CURA.

Please Note:

If you are not logged on to CURA while making these setting changes, the dropdowns may not populate with your CURA URL.




Installing the .NET Framework The .NET Framework is a programming infrastructure created by Microsoft for building, deploying, and running applications and services that use .NET technologies such as desktop applications and web services. With the .NET Framework installed you will be able to use all current and future mindSCOPE CURA tools.

Please Note:

The .NET framework and security installation will only have to be performed once on your machine.

1. Ensure that you have the appropriate .NET Framework installed for your computer.

If you are using Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 you will not have to download the .NET Framework. Instead, select your start menu at the bottom left corner of your computer screen and select Control Panel

Did you know?

You may check whether you have the .NET Framework already installed by going to your Control Panel selecting Programs, and then selecting Programs and Features. If Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Client or higher is within the list, continue with the next step.

If you do not have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Client or higher, search for .NET Framework on www.google.com to download and install it.

After downloading it from the web, continue with the next step.

2. From within your Control Panel, select Programs.

3. Select Turn Windows features on or off from the Programs and Features section.

Did you know?

If you select Programs and Features, you can check whether the .Net Framework is already installed.




4. Next, expand the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and select both checkboxes within.

5. Once both checkboxes are selected, the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 section will be checked as well. Select OK and wait for the setting to configure. This may take a few minutes.

6. Close the Control Panel windows and reopen your web browser to log back into CURA. Once logged in, navigate to the Tools Module to complete the process by setting up the .NET Security.




.Net Framework 4.0 or Higher - Registry Change Default support for .NET controls hosted inside Internet Explorer has been removed from .NET Framework starting .NET 4. With the release of .NET 4.5, this functionality has been also disabled for .NET 1.1, 2.0 and 3.5.

It is important to understand that the problem is not related to Cura but rather to Microsoft having officially deprecated .NET controls hosted inside Internet Explorer.

Back up Registry File Please ensure you have backed up your registry file before you make any updates. Follow the simple steps to perform this task.

1. If using Windows 7, go to your start menu and in the search bar, type in “regedit”.

If using Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, first open Windows Charms Bar by pressing “Windows key + Q” and then in the Apps search Bar, type “regedit” and press Enter to open Registry Editor.

2. When Registry Editor opens, go to File, and select Export.

3. The computer will now ask you to browse the path where you want to save the backup registry file. Select path, give a file name and click on “Save” button. That’s it.




Make the Registry Changes As per the solution offered the below mentioned registry setting needs to be added as a work around to enable features such as Mail merge, CV builder, Batch Paris and Viewing MS Word based documents to work within the Cura Application.

You will need to modify the EnableIEHosting setting in the following registry subkey:

The path for users on a 32bit machine varies from those using a 64bit machine, so please follow the appropriate section for your machine.

Registry Change for 32-bit System Path: HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\.NETFramework

1. If you are running a 32 bit machine, expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and then also expand

SOFTWARE.




2. Next, expand the Microsoft folder from with SOFTWARE, and select the .NETFramework folder.

3. Right click in the space below where it says (Default) and InstallRoot and select New and DWORD (32-bit) Value.




4. A new value item will be added to the list. Change the title from “New Value” to “EnableIEHosting”, and then right click on it and select Modify…

5. Change the Value Data from 0 to 1 and select OK.




Registry Change for 64-bit System

Path: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\.NETFramework

1. If you are running a 64 bit machine, expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and then also expand SOFTWARE.

2. Next, expand the Wow6432Node folder from within SOFTWARE, followed by the .NETFramework folder within the Microsoft folder.




3. Right click in the space below where it says (Default) and InstallRoot and select New and DWORD (32-bit) Value.

4. A new value item will be added to the list. Change the title from “New Value” to “EnableIEHosting”, and then right click on it and select Modify…




5. Change the Value Data from 0 to 1 and select OK.

Installing .NET Security 1. To begin installing the .NET Security, click on the second Click Here to Begin Download located

in the second frame.

****You will not need to use the link in the first frame or the first link in the second frame.




2. You will then be prompted to download the .NET Security. Click on Run to activate the .NET Setup which automatically installs the .NET Security components.

3. If you are not using Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1, the look of the installation screen will be different. Otherwise, select the flashing security icon from the bottom of your screen.

4. Select Yes from the next screen to complete the installation.

Please Note:

If the pop-up does not appear, please navigate to page 34 to learn about how to enable a preference to activate the pop-up.




Batch PARIS Run Check

1. Select Batch Paris from the list of available Tools within the Tools Module to ensure it is accessible and functional.

Please Note:

You may have to complete the .NET Security steps a couple of times if the Batch PARIS Tool window does not open properly. You may also need to log out of CURA and then back in before running the Batch PARIS Tool.




2. The Batch PARIS Screen should look like this:

Please Note:

Loading of Batch PARIS may take a few minutes. Please wait patiently while the Batch PARIS window loads on your machine.




CV View Run Check

1. Navigate to the Candidate Module to ensure that the Original Resume is accessible and functional on your candidate records.

2. Select any candidate in the module to view their record.




3. From within the Candidate’s record, select the documents tab to access the Original Resume.

4. If all the previous setting instructions have been completed accurately, the screen will load as follows, and you may begin working with the application.

5. If the screen does not load, please contact [email protected] for assistance from our support team.





Trouble Shooting Common Setup Issues

Anti-Virus Solutions Blocking CURA Settings Some anti-virus solutions block the necessary browser settings from correcting the CURA settings so that features like the Batch PARIS and CV display from functioning correctly. If you have Anti-Virus software enabled and the completed browser settings are not allowing the Batch PARIS tool to display, please contact your IT Specialist, or [email protected] for assistance.

Missing Security Pop-up For some machines when selecting the link to install the .Net Security from the Tools Module in CURA, the orange flashing pop-up does not appear. This is due to a user setting which either you or your IT Specialist will need to update.

1. You will need to go into the User Account Control Settings within your computer Control Panel.

Access the Control Panel from your start menu, and select User Accounts.

2. Within the User Accounts screen, select User Accounts once more.





3. Next, select Change User Account Control Settings from the list.

4. Ensure that the vertical bar has either the top, or second from the top selected. If Never Notify was selected, this explains why the pop up did not appear.

5. If you cannot make changes in this location, contact your IT Specialist as they will have the necessary permissions to make the change for you.




Disabling Browser Add-ons Sometimes browser add-ons interfere with the CURA settings. If you have browser add-ons, such as the Google search bar, you can disable it using the following steps.

Please Note:

This example shows how to disable the Google Search bar specifically. The steps are similar for all add-ons, but if you need any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact [email protected].

1. If you have an add-on to your browser it will be displaying below your URL field and File menu.

2. To disable add-ons like this, select the X to the far left of the add-on.

3. A pop-up will appear giving you the option to disable the Google Toolbar add-on. Rather than simply hiding it temporarily, please make sure to select Disable Google Toolbar permanently and then select Ok.





4. Selecting OK will prompt an additional pop-up window. Select Disable with the Google Toolbar Helper checkbox selected.

5. You will see the add-on disappear from your browser, as well as a pop-up window confirming that the Toolbar has been disabled. If this was the issue with the setting configuration, the Batch PARIS tool will now load successfully. If not, please contact [email protected].

Please Note:

You may have to disable a few add-ons to get CURA working. Also, some add-ons may not cause problems with the CURA settings, so only try disabling them if you are having issues with the Batch PARIS tool or Resume Display in CURA.





Chrome Installation Guide and Machine Setup In order to access CURA’s Dashboard features on Chrome you need to enable some settings. First you will need to check what version of Chrome you have.

Checking Your Version of Chrome

1. Open your Chrome browser and click the icon in the top right corner to bring up Chrome’s settings. Scroll down and click “About Google Chrome”.

2. A screen will now load with your version number. If you have a version between 38.0.2125.122 & 41.0.2272.89 then your browser is already compatible with CURA, move onto Configuring Chrome. If you have a version higher than 41.0.2272.89, follow the next steps to enable NPAPI plugins.




Enabling NPAPI plugins

1. Open your Chrome browser and visit chrome://flags/#enable-npapi. The page that loads should look like this:

Please Note:

If you do not have this preference available, you may have an older version of Chrome that is already compatible with CURA. If you are still having issues with Chrome please contact [email protected].

2. Locate the “Enable NPAPI Mac, Windows” preference and click “Enable”.

3. NPAPI plugins are now enabled, you will see that “Enable” has become “Disable” and there is an option to restart Chrome, you must do this for the setting to take effect.

Configuring Chrome In order to fully utilize CURA on Chrome you will need to allow pop-ups.

1. Follow your CURA link and login.

2. Select the new email icon on the left panel. If your pop-up blocker is configured the new mail input window will appear. If it is not configured you will get a pop-up blocker warning, click it to reveal your popup blocker settings.

3. Change the setting from “Continue to block pop-ups” to “Always allow pop-ups”, click “Done”.
