Toppings

To make the icing: Sift the icing sugar into a bowl and add warm water a little at a time. Stir the mixture and keep adding watr until all the icing sugar is dissolved and the icing is thick, but able to be spooned out.

When the cakes are baked, put a blob of icing in the middle of each of the cakes and add your toppings before it cools and hardens.

In the pictures, we used Sugar Roses and Posh Pearls from Asda. But you could also decorate them with sprinkles,

jelly diamonds, hundreds and thousands, and hundreds of other toppings.

How To...

Create Your Own Vintage

Tea Party

Using this recipe, you can make some beautiful cupackes that would look just perfect at a tea party.

Simply pop your cupcakes into some fancy looking teacups and arrange however you like.

We got this Ming China set of

four teacups and saucers from a charity shop for just £4.00. Bargain!

To add a bit of old fashioned elegance to your feast, you could place your cupcakes on lace doilies and add matching vintage teapots.

Tea, of course, is a an essential. But how about mixing it up with fruit tea or green tea?

Better yet, you could make it pink themed event and have Strawberry, Cranberry and Raspberry flavoured treats and fruit tea in the same flavours.

Your guests could come in fancy dresses in vintage designs, with pink accessories.

Another theme could be roses, with rose petals on the table as decorations and floral print dresses.

Or, picking up on the fruity theme, you could have raspberry jelly. All you do is put lots of raspberries in a glass, fill with raspberry jelly (and a little champagne if you’re feeling festive) and leave to set.

No tea party is complete without tiny sandwiches, but how about dessert sandwiches? Just as cute, but more sweet.
