We are fast approaching the end of year. This term is

definitely flying by. We need any families who have

perpetual trophies at home to please return them

to the school ASAP. We will need them for 2016

Presentation Night.

Year 5/6 students at camp are having a great time.

The trip down went well and the weather is hot. Great

for swimming..

The last Kindergarten Orientation morning is being

held on Tuesday 29th November. This is also a time

for parents to attend a morning tea and information

session.

The Level 8 trip to the movies is being held on Thurs-

day 1st December. Congratulations to all our Level 8

students.

It’s the last week for School Banking for the year.

Books need to be in before Tuesday 29 November.

Our school has been asked to perform at Corals in the Park.

Kindergarten will be singing Six White Boomers.

They will be accompanied by 3 primary school children.

The carols are on Sunday 11 December.

Bhutan Letter Writing Group

A group of children from the school have been writing

letters to a school in Thimphu is Bhutan. This is the

photo we have sent to Bhutan to wish our penfriends

good luck in their exams. In Bhutan at the end of each

year all children sit for big exams and if they don’t

pass they have to stay in the same grade. Some chil-

dren stay in the same grade for a few years. The

children usually walk to school and they study their

books as they walk.

Library News

Our school has a new computer library system called ‘Oliver’. It is library management software offers a digital

rich, engaging experience for the whole school community. It can be accessed from any desktop or tablet device

and allows students to discover library and learning resources 24/7 in school and from home.

The children need to log onto their portal using their own login name and password, then go to Oliver (found on

their portal page). Their library area is called Orbit and from here they can see what books they have, reserve

books, customise their Orbit page, search for resources and access DEC approved websites.

During the past week I have shown the children from Year 2 to Year 6 how to use this. I encourage them to try it

from home, it will become a valuable resource.

This year there will be a change to the end of year return of books. Children, Kindergarten to Year 5, will be able

to borrow books over the Christmas holiday period.

Year 6 need to have all library books returned by the end of week 9, Friday 9 December.

Next year the library will have ebooks available through the students Orbit page, they will be able to borrow

these for a 2 week period and read them on their tablets. More about this later.

Wednesday 23 November

The children from Year 4 gardening group will be travelling to The Manning Regional Art

Gallery to do a workshop on recycling and to see the Frugal Forest exhibition. This is a

great opportunity for these students to learn about recycling and become more environ-

mentally aware. The students need to be in full school uniform, bring their lunch and a

drink. If possible could they bring a big t-shirt as they will be doing some painting.
