large gap in cost between the SportsMembership, and the next level up,Full Resident. This new program is apermanent fix to that large disparity.

This is not a temporary credit program that will cause your dues to jump back up in a year or two.

Effective June 8 any new member tocome in at the Full Resident level willpay $199 per month for full access toeverything Cross Creek has to offer. To get all current Full Resident

members to that same monthly rate, all you have to do is refer a newmember who also comes in at the

Full Resident level. That referral dropsboth party’s monthly dues to $199.For those of you who are having trouble finding someone to refer, ifan individual stops by to join who isnot referred by a current member, then the two longest serving

members at the full resident rate will automatically receive the

dues reduction. This is designed to accelerate the amount of time it takesto get all Full Resident members tothe $199 monthly dues rate. So now we are asking you, our loyalmembers, to promote your Club toanyone you would like to see as a

member. You are our best advertisingplatform, and you can spread theword faster to the right people thanany billboard, email, or flyer couldever accomplish. We appreciate your support and look forward to

our coming growth!

AROUND THE CLUB

A Note From Brian

Hot summer months are here and our facilities have seen many, muchneeded improvements. The pool

water has never been clearer; 20 new, comfortable lounge chairs adorn thepool deck; the clay tennis courts areresurfaced; the cart path repair

project is completed; and the bunkersare having new sand added duringevery opening the maintenance staffhas to work on them. But theseimprovements are all minor in

comparison to the new membershipprogram we have rolled out to

grow this membership! After many hours of reviewing and analyzing our membership

trends over the past four years, theone category that we need to grow toincrease our viability is Full ResidentMemberships. Membership gains

have kept pace with normal attrition, but mainly at the lower dues levels ofSports and Clubhouse Memberships. We believe this to be because of the

Trackman research suggests that if we assume a center-faced strike, every degree of loft difference =

about 3 yards. If there’s only a 6 yarddifference between the 3 and 4 ironsin the above set, what’s the point ofcarrying the 3 iron? A properlygapped set would look like this...

Club Loft Loft Difference

3 iron 184 iron 22 45 iron 26 46 iron 30 47 iron 34 48 iron 38 49 iron 42 4Pitching Wedge 46 4

With a consistent 4 degree gapbetween your irons, you can expect a consistent 10-12 yard differencebetween clubs, making club selection much easier. Get your irons checked!

Iron Fitting:The Importanceof Consistent

Gapping

Let’s say you’re standing over yoursecond shot on #9 with a back-rightflag, with 148 to carry the bunker and161 to the pin. To get it close, you

need to land it somewherearound 155 and let the slopefeed the ball to the hole, but ata minimum, you have to carrythe bunker. How many timeshave you come up 1 yard shortin that situation and walked off with a bogey or worse? If

you’ve played Cross Creek enoughtimes, my guess is more than once.

The problem with the way manymanufacturers are making equipment

these days is that everyone is seemingly obsessed with distance, and wants to make the “longest ironin golf”. The way they achieve this isby strong-lofting the middle and longirons. This produces small loft gaps inthe longer irons, and larger gaps inthe shorter clubs. This leaves thegolfer with “distance gaps” in thebag. Did you ever stand over a shotand say “I don’t have a club for this?”

To show you what I mean, take a look at the chart below. These are loft specs for a 2015 iron model that I pulled from a major manufacturer’s website.

Club Loft Loft Difference

3 iron 204 iron 22.5 2.55 iron 25 2.56 iron 28 37 iron 32 48 iron 36 49 iron 41 5Pitching Wedge 46 5
