Lucie County School District as related to technology is to provide all students with access to a technology-rich environment that will support and reinforce the education goals and produce successful, life long learners.

This model is directly connected to and integrated with the mission of the school district which to ensure that all students are learning and equipped with knowledge, skills, and the desire to succeed.

Requirements: Each year, schools are required to

verify their computer inventory. From this inventory district

technology directors make decisions regarding further technology upgrades and usage.

Instructional staff (teachers) currently use limited amounts of technology within the classroom setting. There is a further reduction of the use of technology outside of the classroom whether assigned work for students or instructor based usage.

This reduction is in part due to the limited technology that exists in the classroom.

It also can be attributed to a non-existent policy for instructors to become proficient with technology use within the classroom setting.

And although there is an abundance of professional development it is scattered and disorganized throughout the district website.

Potential support interventions to increase technology usage

within the classroom

Survey teachers to discover which classrooms need more computers

Purchase computer switchboards to share network connections in rooms with limited “plugs”

Emphasize and train teachers on 25-station computer carts we currently have available.

Conduct computer literacy professional development to encourage usage amongteachers
