Who's Who From Julliard to Lincoln Center, from Broadway to London, Coby Cathey can spell these with minimal assistance from spell check. He is thrilled to be making his international stage debut in Plano in the role of Gilligan. Coby performs daily during the school year in the role of a science and social studies teacher at Mary Grimes Education Center in Carrollton. Coby grew up in Emory, Texas and graduated from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas and Texas A&M, Commerce. Donald C. Cook has performed internationally as an actor, singer, and dancer on stage, in film, and on television. He sang with the Heidelberg Concert Choir throughout America and Europe. Donald performed in a mass choir in Faure’s Rudder addition to the Requiem with the New England Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in 2005. He played Tom in the musical tour of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and has performed several seasons at the Huron Playhouse and Trumpet in the Land in Ohio. His acting credits include featured roles in independent films including The Last Tomorrow and Forgotten Frames in Dallas and in feature films Diana and Me and The Munsters’ Scary Little Christmas. While living in Australia, Donald had featured roles in television dramas and soaps including All Saints, Big Sky, and Home & Away. In addition, Donald is an experienced professional photographer and public speaker with years of corporate training experience. He is currently teaching sixth grade music and choir in Greenville, Texas. Robin Coulonge is excited to work for Rover again and to make and find all the interesting props for this super fun show. Thanks to Carol she is getting to help direct adults again; she hasn't done this since her UNT days. She has lived back stage for 20 years and it's good to be the Stage Manager (a/k/a the one in charge!). Robin can be seen volunteering for several things from Girl Scouts to school plays and theatre with kids at church. She makes money teaching theatre classes and doing theatre themed parties and props for other local theatres. Robin would like to thank all her family for their support! R. Taylor "Duckie" Etherton got his start making music at the age of eight when he discovered the drums and has never looked back. By the age of eighteen, he had performed as a guitarist and percussionist in award winning jazz ensembles, in addition to playing percussion at Carnegie Hall with the prestigious National Youth Chorale. Ten years later, Duckie is currently the newest member of, and drummer for, the band Oliphant, he's also a seven year member of the band Mindfull for which he sings and plays guitar, and has recently added "film score composer" to his resume for his work on the independent film Stacked Dead Actors in which he also has a featured acting role. This will be Duckie's first show working with Rover Dramawerks and he couldn't be happier to be a part of it. Look for Duckie in the papers, for his actual passion is astronomy and his greatest ambition in life is to be the first recording artist to make music on Mars. Zachary Haber is absolutely thrilled to be apart of Gilligan's Island: the Musical! This is Zach's first production with Rover and he is extremely appreciative to have worked with such amazing and talented people. Many thanks go out, especially to Patsy Sadowski, his amazing voice teacher; Carol, his wonderful director; and Robin, the sensational AD/SM. Zach will be attending Texas Tech in the fall with a major in Pharmacy.

Rover's Mission Searching for treasures, new and rediscovered,

for theatre "off the beaten path."

Rover Dramawerks produces lost or forgotten works of well-known authors, revives excellent scripts that have suffered from lack of exposure,

and discovers unknown gems of the stage.

Rover Adult Acting Classes! Acting in Charge: Treading the Boards to Address the Board Instructor: Rick Tuman Tuesdays, July 1-29 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. (5 weeks) From time to time, each of us has been called-upon to “get up and say a few words.” The request to do so may evoke both delight and shock as one is handed this “honor.” This workshop is geared to those who speak publicly on an occasional or regular basis, to those who are in line for or desire positions where public speaking of some type will be a part of their duties, and to those who just want to feel more confident when addressing a group. Using theatre performance techniques and exercises (breathing, body language, enunciation, and improvisation, monologue or scene work), including gentle but honest feedback from the instructor and workshop participants, this workshop will help prepare you for the on-the-spot request as well as preparing you in advance for your big moment. No experience is necessary. This workshop will culminate with each student having the opportunity to “present themselves” to a gathering of invited guests.

So You Wanna Be Funny...a Comedy Class Instructor: Lisa Devine Mondays, August 4 – September 22 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (8 weeks) It takes more muscles to frown than smile – conserve energy by taking a class in comedy! Rover Dramawerks presents an Adult Acting course dedicated to the art of being funny. Exercises and projects will be geared to freeing your imagination in a fun filled environment. Techniques will be taught in stand up comedy, improvisation, and physical comedy by using the writings of great comedy legends of the stage: Neil Simon, Ken Ludwig, Larry Shue, Woody Allen, and others! Come join a hilarious group! If you always wanted to learn acting, this is your chance! (Requirement for this course: The ability to laugh or the desire to learn.) Back by popular demand! Tuition for either class - $175. Visit www.roverdramawerks.com for more information and to enroll. Discounts are available! Classes take place at the ArtCentre of Plano, 1039 E. 15th Street at the corner of 15th Street and Avenue K.

Up Next for Rover...

Set in Canada immediately before, during,

and after World War I, Mary's Wedding is a story of two young lovers told as flashbacks within a dream. Unbound by time, unabashedly romantic, and distinctly contemporary in theatrical style and setting, this beautiful, award-winning love story has captivated audiences all over North America. Once you see it, you will know precisely why.

July 10 - August 2

Heather Hill began her career as a movie star in the Haggard Middle School Production of The Velveteen Rabbit as The Jack in the Box. Although Hollywood didn't call after her spectacular performance there, she went on to earn a BFA in Acting from Ithaca College. Her New York Credits include Byul and 2x4: The Abelman. Regionally, she has appeared as Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream (Stage West), Lizzie in The Rainmaker (Rotunda Theatre), Nadine in Dearly Departed (ICT), and in various productions with MBS, Queer Voltage, Act One Productions, Dallas HUB Theatre, and Richardson Theatre Center. No one ever said Ginger didn't get around! Nancy Lamb was Mrs. Gorf in Rover’s Sideways Stories From Wayside School. Most recently she has appeared in productions at Stage West and Casa Mañana in Ft. Worth, Deep Ellum’s Hub Theatre with Anagram Productions, and Flower Mound Performing Arts Theatre. Favorite roles include Sister Amnesia in Nunsense, Fairy Godmother in Cinderella and Mama Burnside/Mrs. Upson in Auntie Mame. She has performed in the MBS Productions’ Theatre of Death and with the school touring companies of Theatre Britain and Word of Mouth Productions. Nancy is also a sound designer/engineer and a church musician, and the proud mother of three 20-somethings. Heather Jo Matthews recently graduated from New Mexico State University with a BA in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Stage Management. At NMSU she worked on numerous shows ranging from stage crews to Stage Management. This is her first professional show and she is thrilled to be working with such fun and creative artist. She considers herself to be very lucky to be starting her career with such a fun show. It's been a wonderful experience! Heather McCormick is honored to be a part of the history for such a classic TV series! She is currently a senior theatre performance student at University of North Texas with plans to graduate in 2009 and to continue following her passion in performance. Some of her most recent theatrical roles include Louise in Runner Stumbles, Mammy in Cripple of Inishmaan, and Joyce in Ruffian On The Stair. Heather would like to thank her family for the unconditional love and support while she pursues her dreams. Michael McNiel is very pleased to state that his second turn at a Rover production has been one of his most joyous theatre experiences. Past productions have included Sabrina Fair (Linus Larabee, Jr.), The Odd Couple: Female Version (Monolo) - MCT, Damn Yankees (Old Joe) - RCT, Picnic (Howard Bevins)-ICT, Notorious Psycho Birds in the North By Northwest Rear Window (Dr. Phillip Thorwold) - Pocket Sandwich and Woman in Mind (Gerald Gannet) - Rover Dramawerks. Michael cannot thank Carol, Nancy, Patsy, and Robin enough for their patience and hard work throughout this production. As for the cast, I could not think of seven other people I would rather be marooned with on Gilligan’s Island. This is Blake Minor's first experience with Rover and the greater Dallas area. He is currently teaching theatre at Rowlett High School and will be moving back to his home town, Houston, to teach at Morton Ranch High School next school year. This summer he will have his second stint with Jersey Production, performing at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnatti, designing West Side Story and Nunsense. Designing sound for Gilligan's Island has been a very fun and unforgettable experience.

Veronica Morgan has been designing and making wigs for 20 years. She has worked all over the US and has received great praise from her peers for her artistic talent. She usually works in the classy venue of Opera, but she adores Carol and Rover Dramawerks so much she was willing to do a few wigs for this campy show, and she’s loving it so much, she may never go back! Nancy Roberts Pistilli is working with Rover Dramawerks for the first time as Choreographer of Gilligan's Island: the Musical. She is well known in the Dallas area as a Director (Glass Menagerie, Steel Magnolias), as a Choreographer (Pirates of Penzance, Rocky Horror Show, Hair, Scrooge, South Pacific, Camelot), and as a Director/Choreographer (Nunsense, Aesop’s Falables, Oklahoma!). She also acts, having appeared in Crimes of the Heart as Lennie and Proposals as Annie, as well as in Rover’s very first production, Everything in the Garden. Nancy and Carl Pistilli, a Director/Actor, were married on the beach at South Padre Island on May 20, 2008, so Nancy’s most important role right now is NEWLYWED!! Susan Rainbolt received her Bachelor of Education with an emphasis in Music from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma, and her Master of Music (Vocal Performance) on a full scholarship from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She served as Organist/Choirmaster at First Presbyterian Church of McKinney before moving to the same position at First Presbyterian Church of Plano. She is currently organist at NorthPark Presbyterian Church, Dallas. Michael Rathbun has done a variety of acting and technical things for a number of theatres in the U.S. and Australia over the last thirty years. As an actor, he was most recently seen as Giles Corey in Frisco Community Theatre's production of The Crucible and as Charrington in FCT's 1984 here at the Cox. In the arena of lighting design, he is proprietor of LastResortLight.com, was co-designer for Mesquite Community Theatre's production of The Foreigner, and was lighting designer for Rover's productions of Goodnight Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet and The Spider's Web. Clint Alan Ray recently moved to Plano from Beaumont where he received his BFA in Studio Arts from Lamar University. He has been involved in the theatre since 1978, mostly doing scenic painting. Most recently he designed the sets for Rover’s productions of An Infinite Ache and The Runner Stumbles, and he will be designing Mary’s Wedding for Rover as well. Recently, he has been working for GPO Productions in Dallas constructing and painting sets for other local theatres, such as Dallas Children’s Theater, Second Thought Productions, Risk Theatre Initiative, and Contemporary Theatre of Dallas. Outside the theatre world, Clint is a muralist, with over two decades of work in homes and commercial venues, including the entire pediatric wing of Memorial Hermann Hospital in Beaumont. Check out his work at www.clintray.net or e-mail him at [email protected]. Carol M. Rice is the Artistic Director of Rover Dramawerks, as well as one of the co-founders, and has been involved in some way in every show Rover has done. She has also appeared in Everything in the Garden as Jenny and Woman in Mind as Susan, and has directed Frame 312, Morphic Resonance, Mrs. California, and Lady Windermere’s Fan for Rover, to name a few. Some of her other directing

A Note From the Director... Okay, I’ll admit it. I was one of those kids who went home every afternoon and watched Gilligan’s Island after school. (I wanted to be Ginger when I grew up!) I’m not a big TV watcher now, so it’s still my answer when I’m asked what my favorite show is, so you can imagine how excited I was when I found out about Gilligan’s Island: the Musical! This actually wasn’t too long ago - just a few short months. I was browsing other theatres’ websites across the country to see what shows everyone is doing, and I saw it! I immediately started trying to find out more (using GoodSearch instead of Google so that Rover would get credit for my searches!) and came across gilligansislandthemusical.com. I immediately sent an email inquiry requesting a script and even contacted a few of the theatres listed that had done the show. To make a long story short (too late!), we finally made contact with Lloyd Schwartz, one of the show’s authors, he sent us a script, and I knew it was a Rover show! We were actually looking at it for our 2008-09 Season, but Lloyd told us a national tour is in the works for 2009, so it might not be available then, depending on whether the show comes through Dallas. Then our director for Grotesque Lovesongs, the show originally planned for this timeslot, had to back out for personal reasons. Rather than trying to replace the director, who has just the right amount of quirky humor for that show, we decided to take a chance that we could get the rights to Gilligan’s Island: the Musical, and the rest is history! And I do mean history! This is Rover’s first musical in our eight year existence! It’s the regional premiere (although you can catch a production opening next weekend in Houston). It’s the first time my almost-4-year-old has expressed interest in the theatre (he LOVES Ginger and Mary Ann, and wants to be either the Skipper or the Professor, depending on his mood). The list goes on and on. If this is your first time to come to a Rover show, welcome, and I hope we see you again soon! I just want you all to know that I’m so darn proud of all the people involved with this thing, I can’t even mention all the wonderful stuff they’ve done or the program will be a novel and I’ll STILL manage to leave something out. Just know that it may take a village to raise a child, but it takes an army to put on a show. These people are amazing, all going above and beyond the call of duty. Thank you! Eight years ago when I sat around my kitchen table with a couple of friends and dreamed up Rover Dramawerks, I never would have imagined the incredible theatre community we have become. And the possibilities are endless! I hope you’ll join us for those as they develop!

efforts include Noises Off, Witness for the Prosecution, The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr (abridged), Inherit the Wind, and The Foreigner, and she will be directing Shakespeare in Hollywood later this season. Carol also enjoys acting and writing - some of her children’s plays will be seen at camps all over Plano this summer! Carol’s favorite roles are Wife to best friend Jason and Mommy to 6½-year-old Stephen and 4-in-July Scott, both of whom know every word of this show! Patsy McGregor Sadowski is a vocal specialist whose work with vocal technique for non-classical singing has led her to music direction for theater. She has enjoyed several of Rover’s adult acting classes. In early 2008, Patsy served as music director for The Lovers, presented by MBS Productions. She holds a master’s degree in vocal pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University, and has done post-graduate study at Shenandoah University. Patsy holds the highest certification in Somatic Voicework® The LoVetri Method, and she continues to work with New York teacher and author Jeanette LoVetri. Patsy teaches singing privately for non-classical and classical styles in Allen and Dallas to students ages 12-adult. Bruce Stevenson serves as Director of Choral Music at Liberty High School in Frisco. He's a composer, arranger and orchestrator as well, and in his "spare time" directs the Frisco Jazz Band, a 17-piece big band. Bruce is married, the father of three daughters and one son-in-law, and now a grandpa twice over. And he loves it! David West plays the sax, flute and clarinet and sometimes harmonica when there's a campfire. While playing in the Jazz Ensemble at Brigham Young University, he performed at numerous Jazz Festivals across the U.S. and in Europe warming up for Wayne Shorter and Carlos Santana at the Antibes Jazz Festival in France. David has played in various pit-orchestras including productions of Kiss Me Kate, The Wiz, and Footloose. He is an engineer at Texas Instruments and currently plays in the TI Jazz Band and a soul band dedicated to the music of Tower of Power. Corey Whaley is making his third outing with Rover Dramawerks, having played Father Rivard in The Runner Stumbles and Graham in Frame 312. Corey is a transplant from Oklahoma City, where he has worked with Carpenter Square Theatre, Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park, Pollard Theatre, Oklahoma City Theatre Company, Oklahoma Children's Theatre, and Jewel Box Theatre. He recently appeared as Father in The Pillowman, the inaugural production of Oklahoma City's Ghostlight Theatre Club, of which he is a long-distance founding member. By day, Corey works as a programmer with Matrix Business Technologies. Paula Wood has been designing costumes since graduating from Abilene Christian University in 2004. Although her degree was in acting, her love for fashion history and sewing has created a whole other world of creativity. Other shows include Brandi the Vampire Staker (Pocket Sandwich Theater), Bye, Bye Birdie (Artisan Theatre Centre), and The Skriker (Dallas Hub Theater). She would like to thank Rover Dramawerks for giving her the chance to work on such a fun show with such great people!
