El Camino Divino Pilgrimage

Would you be interested in a chalenging, historic trip in Europe? It is called the Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James). It is the name given to any of the several an-cient pilgrimage routes spanning Europe that end in the city of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, northwest Spain. Here tradition holds that the remains of St. James the Apostles rest within the ancient city’s Cathedral. Fr. Murphy will be leading one such Camino from October 8th to October 19th, 2018. We will cover 98 miles begin-ning from Lisbon, Portugal and traveling Santiago de Com-postela and then returning to Fatima, Portugal. This is a walking pilgrimage! Great food and accommodations are provided each night. This is a guided tour. For more in-formation, go to the website: www.ultreiaysuseia.com or call Sister Joan Gabbin (904) 881-0921.

Confessions will be heard before all the services throughout Holy Week.

If you wish to make the 9 Day Divine Mercy Novena, there will be pamphlets available in the church. Re-member that the Novena begins on Good Friday. On Sun., April 8th Divine Mercy Sunday, there will be a spe-cial Eucharistic Holy Hour at 3 p.m. for Divine Mercy.

Don’t forget to sign up for Eucharistic Adoration and also to have your family portrait for our Parish Pictorial Directory this week. And now some Irish funnies: #1 - Two Irishmen hired an open cockpit aeroplane to fly over Dublin on St Patrick's Day. As they were wing-ing their way through the air, O'Toole turned to his friend, Murphy and said, 'Murphy, I'm going to fly up-side down.'

We will fall out.” 'No we won't,' responded O'Toole, 'I'll still talk to you.'

#2 - Father O'Connor walks into a pub and says to the first man he meets, 'Do you want go to heaven?' The man replies, 'Yes, Father.' Father O'Connor then says, 'Leave this bar right now, and go outside'. O'Connor proceeds to another man, and asks him the same thing. The chap also answers, 'Yes'. Father O'Connor asks him too to go out. The Reverend Father goes the third man and asks, 'Would you like to go to heaven? ' This time the reply is, 'No thank-you Father.' Surprised, Father O'Connor asks, 'Why not?' The man opines, 'I mean I do, but only after I die.' The Father O'Connor explains, 'That's what I am talking about.' The man says, 'Oh, I thought you are getting a group ready right now.'

#3 - Gallagher is in Boston and he is waiting patiently, also, he is watching the traffic cop on a busy street crossing. The cop stops the flow of traffic and shouts, 'Okay pe-destrians'. Then he allows the traffic to pass. He did this several times, and Gallagher is still standing on the sidewalk. After the cop has shouted 'Pedestrians' for the tenth time, Gallagher approaches him and says, 'Is it not about time ye let the Catholics across?'

#4 - Finnegan sells Michael a donkey, some weeks later they met in a pub in Killarney and Michael says, 'Hey, Finnegan, that donkey you sold me went and died.' Finnegan just sips his Guinness slowly and retorts, 'Bejabbers, Michael, it never done that on me.'

#5 - O'Gara was arrested and sent for trial for armed bank robbery. After due deliberation, the jury foreman stood up and announced, 'Not guilty.' 'That's grand,' shouted O'Gara, 'Does that mean I get to keep the money?' Fr. Murphy

DIVINE MERCY NOVENA

Please join in the Divine Mercy Novena starting on Good Friday March 30th, leading up to Divine Mercy Sunday on April 8th. Pamphlets with the novena and prayers will be available at the doors of the church on Palm Sunday week-end, March 24th and 25th. Fr Murphy will begin the novena after the Good Friday services. If you can’t join us in the church, please obtain a novena pamphlet and begin on your own. Fr Murphy will be leading us in the novena after the daily mass the week before divine Mercy Sunday. This is what Jesus told St Faustina about the Novena:

‘I desire that during these nine days you bring souls to the fountain of My mercy, that they may draw therefrom strength and refreshment and whatever grace they need in the hardships of life, and especially ,at the hour of death.

On each day you will bring to my Heart a different group of souls, and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mer-cy, and I will bring all these souls into the house of My Fa-ther…I will deny nothing to any soul whom you will bring to the fount of My mercy. On each day you will beg my Father, on the strength of My bitter Passion, for graces for these souls’ ( St Faustina Diary 1209)

‘By this novena, I will grant every possible grace to souls’ (St Faustina Diary 796)

‘All those souls who will glorify My mercy and spread its worship, encouraging others to trust in my mercy, will not experience terror at the hour of death. My mercy will shield them in that final battle’ (St Faustina Diary 1540)

EWTN and St. Vincent de Paul Society EWTN is now running a 10 episode series called "Our Faith in Action," where the focus is on the work of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
