Ministers of Welcome and Ushers

Our ministers of welcome and ushers ensure that everyone who walks through our doors

is welcomed. Our ministers of welcome serve on special weekends and greet visitors at

the doors. They are the first line of welcoming. Ushers assist visitors at every mass by

greeting, finding seats, gathering the collection baskets, preparing guests for the Presen-

tation of the Gifts, directing during the reception of communion and distributing parish

bulletins.

Serve: New members are always welcome to these ministries. Ministers of welcome can

serve as a family or individuals and ushers are needed at every Mass. Share your gift of

welcoming with our visitors

Liturgical ministry is an excellent opportunity to fulfill your baptismal call of service to one another. Our liturgies should utilize the talents and gifts that God has given this community to the fullest extent. Whether participation is through “behind the scenes” preparation and planning or through a public role of service within the Mass, parishioner contributions help our liturgies to be truly life-giving celebrations. These ministries include: Altar Server

Altar Servers offer service to God and the community by assisting the priest during Mass. The ministry is open to all adults and youth of the parish who have made their First Communion and whose parents believe they are ready and responsible enough to be trained. Training in the specifics of the ministry is provided throughout the year. Servers are assigned on a rotating schedule. Contact: Anthony Elentrio [email protected]

Eucharistic Ministers

This liturgical ministry is responsible for distributing the Body and Blood of Christ at the weekend Masses and other times Mass is celebrated. Training in the specifics of the ministry is provided throughout the year. Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion may serve at any Mass they attend. Ministers are invited by the pastor to serve. Contact: Barbara Sentner [email protected]

Lectors

Lectors proclaim the Word of the Lord during the Liturgy. A lector should have a passion for Scripture, an ability to interpret and understand Scripture, and sufficient public speaking skills to proclaim the Word to the assembly. Training in the specifics of the ministry is provided throughout the year. Lectors are assigned on a rotating schedule. Contact: Ingrid Williams [email protected]

Linen Ministry These ministers clean and press the altar linens and purificators used each week in our

liturgies. This is another invisible, yet essential ministry. The cloths used at the altar in

the Eucharistic celebration are treated with the care and respect due to those items being

used in the preparation and celebration of the sacred mysteries. Accordingly, guidelines

are provided for their cleaning. This ministry is time-flexible and is performed at the par-

ish; ideally this would be on a 6 - 8 week rotation.

to help the homeless. The Interfaith Hospitality Ministry works to help homeless

families by providing meals throughout the year. For over 10 years, Holy Eucharist

About every 6 weeks, we partner with the Browns Mills United Methodist Church.

They provide the shelter. We provide the food. Details for the program can be

found at http://holyeucharist.org/#/ministry/outreach under “Interfaith Hospital-

ity”.

Consider doing something extraordinary! Perhaps you are already part of ministry here at Holy Eucharist or perhaps you have not yet involved yourself in servng. Would you consider the Next Step? We have a place for you to serve and a role that only YOU can fill! Consider serving in one of our important week-end ministries: The Welcome Center, Kidzone, Children’s Word, the Ca-fé, Ushers or Greeters or our faith formation program, LIFT!. Serve even just once to see if it's a fit for you! (Refer to pages 2 and 3 for details of each of these ministries.) You’ll see what the ministry is like, meet some other peo-ple and ask all the question you want before committing further. We’ll train you and make you feel comfortable in the role that you choose! The Welcome Center, Kidzone, Children's Word and LIFT! programs are offered September through May. The Cafe operates year 'round and greeters are used for special weekend liturgical occasions. Go to http://holyeucharist.org/#/ministry to register or visit our welcome cen-ter and fill out a Next Step card. Below is a description of the teams that make up our LIFT! Faith formation pro-gram: Group Leader: Responsible for leading the children in a small group setting. Groups are organized by grade level and last approximately one hour and take place beginning a half hour after mass on LIFT! weekends. Curriculum, all materials and training are provid-ed. Childcare is provided for leaders with younger children and infants. Leaders commit their service for one session each month for one year. Aide and Teen Aide: Works with the group leader and assists with children’s small groups. A teen aide is always accompanied by an adult leader and this experience may be used for confir-mation or community service hours. Substitute: Lead a small group when group leader is not available. A lesson plan and all materi-als will be provided. Hall Monitor: Supervise the hall of the faith formation wing while children are in small group ses-sions. Meal Preparation: Assist meal prep coordinator in set up, serving, and/or clean up during LIFT! ses-sions. Can assist for one or more sessions. Teens welcome. We hope you will prayerfully consider joining us in ministry at Holy Eucharist.
