Contractions are two words combined to make one.

Contractions:

• Most times, the first word is written and the second word is shortened using an apostrophe (’)

• However, There are some instances where this is not the case. For the word he ishe is, the contraction is he’she’s. The apostrophe takes the place of only one letter.

• For the word can notcan not, the contraction is can’tcan’t. The apostrophe takes the places of two letters, nn and oo.

• For the word will notwill not, the contraction is won’twon’t. Change the illill in wwillill to oo. remove the oo in notnot add and apostrophe in the place of oo creating won’twon’t
