through (Fiber home) - Middle East.In addition, BTC provides consultancy and trainingservices through SITEG Company. Recently, BTCinvested in the communications sector throughits sister company (TIC).

BTC has established branches in Egypt, Lebanon,United Arab of Emirates, Iraq, Syria, Jordan,S ingapore, Indones ia and Malays ia .In regards to our strategic objectives, we aimto expand in the Saudi market in addition to thegeneral Arab market by targeting a higher marketshare in the communications sector throughfocusing on applying more advanced technologiesand new services in Communications, IT andValue Added Services.

Q : In 2006, BTC started itscooperation with Giza Arabia, what are the major aspects ofsuccess during this period, what is your vision pertainingto such effective cooperationin the future?

A: The cooperation between BTC and Giza wasvery fruitful. Many projects were implementedfor example:

The Billing System of Bintel communicationnetwork and SS7 Monitoring & Analysis System(SS7 MAS) of Saudi Telecom company.

We are very optimistic for continuous cooperationwith Giza Arabia, especially that current projectsare witnessing an aggressive expansion.

Q : Giza recently won anoperation and managementCall Billing System contractfor Bintel – an affiliatecompany to BTC - how doyou see this cooperation and

on what basis did you chooseGiza Systems?

A : Bintel’s selection for Oracle/Portal systemwas a strategic choice as this would be the baseto provide and integrate several services whichcan be easily used by clients, especially whenroaming from one network to another owned byBintel. Since Giza Systems is an Oracle partner,

there are common grounds and developmentpolicies among both of us. We rely heavily onGiza Systems’ efficiency as Bintel desires tobenefit from such a system and to intensifyfuture investments to cover all countries thatBintel operate in.

Q : What are the key assetsthat differentiate Giza Arabiain the Saudi market?

A : Giza Systems has a large number of efficientexpert consultants, and specialists who are alsoaccredited by multinational corporations. Despitetheir Arab origin, they have acquired greatexperience from their work in many Egyptiantelecommunication companies.

Due to similarities between the operatorcompanies in Egypt and Saudi, Giza Systemsremarkable achievements in Egypt enabled it tocompete effectively in the Saudi market andenjoy a wealth of regional growth.

In addition to, the competent management ofGiza systems that is committed to offer the bestservice to the Saudi market.

Q : How do you see the futureof the Saudi market in the lightof the current financial crisis -and how do you think theSaudi market will be affected?

A : I do not expect the telecommunicationsector to become affected by the current financialcrisis.

Apart from other sectors - like tourism, commerce, business, car industry, and real estate– telecommunications is the least to becomeaffected.

Since most of the telecom operators in SaudiArabia are startup companies in need of largesums of money to solidify their infrastructure, it will be a source of finance to the sector andwill help in continuing growth but with a slowpace due to the current financial crisis.

Q : Based on your longexperience in the Saudi market, what are the key factors ofsuccess in this market?

A : The Saudi market is an open market, alwayson the lookout for advanced technology in thetelecom and IT fields. Youth represents morethan two thirds of the population and thepenetration percentage of IT products andservices is very low and is subject to a massiveincrease.

Also income rates are high and consumptionrates on IT products and services are consideredone of the highest worldwide.

In fact, Saudi Arabia succeeded in setting theappropriate laws and legislations needed to attractinvestors in the IT and services field. Also both thepublic and private sectors are committed toincreasing investment inside the Kingdom; investingin the Saudi citizen whom is considered the coreof development and the base for progress.

Finally, the key to success in this market lies inthe full understanding of those facts and rapidlyresponding to them in order to cope with theInternational developments.

Q : What do you think of thecurrent staff and what is theimportance of training anddeveloping them?

A : There are certain qualifications that mustbe available in the workforce of any corporation. The main problem lies in retaining them, notin training them. Possessing qualified personnelis costly due to the high demand. Therefore,Giza Systems sees it as a necessity to keepits qualified trained employees.

We are always keen on developing andimproving their performance by making themmore knowledgeable, more adaptable, andbetter able to meet changing needs.Since we target a certain market, weencounter some difficulty in finding the qualifiedpersonnel, in accordance with the demandsof our targeted markets, as they must possessthe culture, knowledge and language needed. The fact is, I remain committed to developingthe full potential of our current workforcerather than seeking foreign expertise.

As for my personal opinion, I believe that it isbetter to leverage from our current employeesafter training them instead of seeking foreignexpertise. I strongly believe in hiring new youngtalent as they are ambitious and energetic.

Q : What is the role that Gizasystems Academy plays indeveloping their current and futureworkforce?

A : Giza Systems Academy will bring togetherpersonnel developing the full potential andavailability to help resolve the human resourcesscarcity we are currently facing.

The academy will provide both the technical andpersonal skills needed. In addition, it will act asthe main source for getting the qualified humanresources that the company needs. Moreover, there will be nominations to join the GizaProgram; which will include several advancedtechnical skills, and the top five winners willjoin Giza Systems’ staff, while the others willhave benefited from the personal and technicalexams which they have passed and will findsuitable job opportunities in other companies.

Q : How do you see Giza systemsafter five years?

A : Giza Systems now is completely differentfrom Giza Systems five years ago and of courseit will differ in the coming five years.Giza Systems has the capabilities andqualifications needed to not only be of thebiggest technology corporations in the region, but to also lead the IT market in the comingfive years.

Giza Systems is characterized by its diversifiedsolutions and activities enabling it to providehighly integrated and sophisticated solutions.By leveraging on its previous experience, GizaSystems seeks to enter new fields. The Industrialapplications are a true example for Giza Systemsnew approaches.

The emergence of the new compounds that aretechnology smart in the area of electricity, gas,air conditions, control systems and many others,Giza Systems provides integrated solutions thatread the electricity automatically and send theinformation to the information center that issuesthe invoice automatically and then notify thecustomer with the total invoice. This is a typicalexample for the Industrial applications that GizaSystems provide.

As we work in the industrial applications, wehave billing solutions, and the telecommunicationtechnology needed that enabled us to be one ofthe leading companies that provide integratedsolutions for the new compounds.

Q : What are the advantages thatattract clients to work with GizaSystems than other companies inthe Middle East?

A : Giza Systems enjoys having a hugecustomer base in different fields. We areunique in having a comprehensive knowledgeand long experience in addition to being fullyaware of the technology applied by our clients, which is not a piece of cake, especially for theArab companies because knowing thetechnology used and the organizationalstructure requires long years of experienceand t ime in studying and analysis. The client will receive an excellent service if

those factors are available. In addition to otherrequirements if the client is a foreign company,as there must be the professional caliberscapable of satisfying the client needs.

This will only be achieved through hiring thequalified calibers, who enjoy high technicalskills, as well as language proficiency.

Q : What are the privileges thatencourage professional expertiseto join Giza Systems?

A : “If you’d like a career with a companythat values your contributions and nurturesyour talents while providing you with technicalskills, explore Giza Systems”- a phrase echoedby fresh graduates.

We provide our youth with unparalleledopportunities to learn and are committed toempowering our people to reach their fullpotential, providing personal development andfeedback, and encouraging teamwork.

In fact, Giza Systems has an excellentreputation for encouraging people-friendlyapproaches to work wherever possible. Westrive to maintain our position as an employerof choice.

Q : Will the US financial crisisaffect “Giza Systems” operationsin the Middle East? How much willit impact?

A : We thank God that we are not going tobe heavily impacted with the US financialcrisis. We diversified our operations and didnot focus on one particular division.

For example, if there is an impact in one sectorlike banking or the petroleum sector, othersectors will support it.

Business diversification is one of the keyadvantages that we have. We do not focuson a certain sector and leave the others;however, I believe that each sector must takethe necessary concentration and concernneeded.

Giza Systems recently underwent anextensive restructuring process. InNozzom's previous issue, Mr. ShehabEl Nawawai, revealed the mainreasons behind taking this step andits expected impact on the companyperformance in the coming period. Inthe coming issues of our newsletterNozzom, we will publish a series ofinterviews; the first of which is withGiza Systems’ Vice President of Salesand Delivery , Mr. Mohamed Sedeekwho will shed some light on his newresponsibilities after Giza Systems'restructuring process.

Q : To what extent has Giza Systemsorganizational restructuring processaffected your job responsibilities?

A : After the restructuring process that tookplace in Giza Systems, my responsibilities haveincreased; I currently am in charge of theindustry telecommunications department, applications department and the enterprisedepartment whereas I previously handled onlythe telecommunications department. Thosethree departments are referred to as the revenuegeneration departments; as they generate themain revenue which reflects in the company’sconsolidated revenue. Thus, my responsibilitieshave extended to include the follow up andsupervision of activities of more than onedepartment.

Q : What are the advantages ofbeing in charge of three businessdivisions?

A : There are several advantages, mostimportantly; my new position has allowed me

to see the various dimensions of Giza Systemsapproaches, which by in turn has led tosupporting the business divisions andfacilitating business procedures among them. The new changes have played a prominentrole in enhancing the performance and settingthe whole work system that helped us inhandling the different work sources andsustaining our customer relations. Before therestructuring process, the business divisionswere in complete isolation where each divisiononly offered a specific solution – the sufficientknowledge that would enable them toimplement a mega project was not available. However, after restructuring, each divisionbecame interrelated; offering assistance andservices to one another where the success ofone leads to the success of the others.

Q : What are the challenges thatyou face in managing your businessdivisions?

A : They are not considered challenges, butfocusing techniques on managing differentbusiness divisions. Each division containsplenty of business opportunities where wewill analyze and research developing differentbusiness methods. The duties of my newposition dictate that I have to be fully awareof customer needs and expectations, inaddition to the different business sectors aswell as the new proposed technology in themarket in order to fully comprehend the fullpicture of the work environment. The mainchallenge here is the different work nature ofeach division, in addition to the difference incultures and productivity among divisions. For this reason, we should support eachdivision’s strong points and work onovercoming any obstacles that might arise

from providing our clients with the utmostservice.

Q : What are the future plans formanaging these three businessunits?

A : Through the new management system,we aim to identify client’s needs, seeking tosolve any problems facing our clients.

I am also keen on clear client communicationto make them fully aware of our services andability to fulfill their growing needs. We seekdevelopments on the regional level bydiversifying our business resources such asoutsourcing and entering new markets. Assuch, each company has its own vision andadopts a certain strategy-by understandingthe technology applied in any company, onebecomes aware of the methodology followedand can work on developing and improvingthe business performance as a whole. Finally,we have to be alert to any occurringadjustments and work on developing ourselvesto handle continuous technology progress.

Q : How can the neworganizational structure help inenhancing the company's success?

A : Generally, the new organizationalstructure helps everyone concentrate on theirdivisional responsibilities.

Moreover, the new structure focuses on theacademic, training and human resources, necessary for the work processes, ensuringpermanency. In fact, this is the new structuresaim.
