John 8:50-59

New Living Translation (NLT)50 And though I have no wish to glorify myself, God

wants to glorify me. Let him be the judge. 51 I

assure you, anyone who obeys my teaching will

never die!" 52 The people said, "Now we know

you are possessed by a demon. Even Abraham

and the prophets died, but you say that those

who obey your teaching will never die! 53 Areyou greater than our father Abraham, who died?

Are you greater than the prophets, who died?

Who do you think you are?"

54 Jesus answered, "If I am merely boasting

about myself, it doesn't count. But it is my

Father who says these glorious things about

me. You say, 'He is our God,' 55 but you do not

even know him. I know him. If I said

otherwise, I would be as great a liar as you!

But it is true -- I know him and obey him.

56 Your ancestor Abraham rejoiced

as he looked forward to my coming.

He saw it and was glad."

God tested Abrahams faith

1 Some time later God tested Abraham. He

said to him, Abraham! Here I am, he

replied.2 Then God said, Take your son, your only

son, whom you loveIsaacand go to

the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him thereas a burnt offering on a mountain I will

show you.

57 The people said, "You aren't even fifty

years old. How can you say you have

seen Abraham? " 58Jesusanswered, "The truth is, I existed before

Abraham was even born!" 59 At that

point they picked up stones to kill him.But Jesus hid himself from them and left

the Temple.

3 Early the next morning Abraham got upand loaded his donkey. He took with him

two of his servants and his son Isaac.

When he had cut enough wood for theburnt offering, he set out for the place

God had told him about. 4 On the third

day Abraham looked up and saw theplace in the distance.

5 He said to his servants, Stay here with

the donkey while I and the boy go over

there. We will worship and then we willcome back to you.

6 Abraham took the wood for the burnt

offering and placed it on his son Isaac, andhe himself carried the fire and the knife. As

the two of them went on together, 7 Isaac

spoke up and said to his father Abraham,Father?

Yes, my son? Abraham replied.

The fire and wood are here, Isaac said, butwhere is the lamb for the burnt offering?

8 Abraham answered, God himself will

provide the lamb for the burnt offering,

my son. And the two of them went ontogether.

13 Abraham looked up and there in a

thicket he saw a ram[a]caught by its

horns. He went over and took the ram

and sacrificed it as a burnt offering

instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called

that place The LORD Will Provide. And to

this day it is said, On the mountain of

the LORD it will be provided.

When you give something to God you will

never lose it. It will always come back to

you.

Whatever we give to God it will remain to

us.

A Ram caught by its horn

What Abraham did is a shadow of Jesus great

sacrifice.

Abraham journeyed for 3 days.Jesus was risen on the 3rd day.

Lamb Jesus is the Lamb of God

When Abraham saw the ram, his wyes wereopened and he saw Jesus death on the cross

and his resurrection.

Jesus is our Savior, Immanuel.
