The Temptations of Jesus

“This is the list of the ancestors of Jesus Christ, a descendant of David, who was a descendant of Abraham. From Abraham to King David, the following ancestors are listed: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah and his brothers; then Perez and Zerah (their mother was Tamar), Hezron, Ram, Amminadab, Nahshon, Salmon, Boaz (his mother was Rahab), Obed (his mother was Ruth), Jesse, and King David.” (Matthew 1:1-2)

Satan deceives us about God; he is God’s accuser (and ours)

Both were baptized: “I want you to know, brothers and sisters,

that all our ancestors [who left Egypt] were under the cloud, and they all went through the sea. They were all united with Moses by baptism in the cloud and in the sea. All of them ate the same spiritual food, and all of them drank the same spiritual drink. They drank from the spiritual rock that went with them, and that rock was Christ. Yet, God was not pleased with most of them, so their dead bodies were scattered over the desert.” (1 Corinthians 10:1-4)

Baptism followed by 40 years/days of temptation:

“People passing by shook their heads and hurled insults at Jesus: ‘You were going to tear down the Temple and build it back up in three days! Save yourself if you are God's Son! Come on down from the cross!’ In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the Law and the elders made fun of him: ‘He saved others, but he cannot save himself ! Isn’t he the king of Israel? If he will come down off the cross now, we will believe in him! He trusts in God and claims to be God’s Son. Well, then, let us see if God wants to save him now!’” (Matthew 27:39-43)

“…like the Son of Man, who did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life to redeem many people.” Matthew 20:28

miracle?”

“Then the Devil took him to Jerusalem and set him on the highest point of the Temple, and said to him, ‘If you are God's Son, throw yourself down from here. For the scripture says, 'God will order his angels to take good care of you.' It also says, 'They will hold you up with their hands so that not even your feet will be hurt on the stones.' But Jesus answered, ‘The scripture says, 'Do

not put the Lord your God to the test.’” (Luke 4:9-12)

“They complained to Moses and said, ‘Give us water to drink.’ Moses answered, ‘Why are you complaining?
