This joint EU Presidency and Virtual

Global Taskforce event will bring togetherrepresentatives from law enforcement,government, industry, and NGOs fromaround the world.

The conference will:

■ raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities in combating on-line

child abuse at political, law enforcement and industry level internationally;

■ identify and share good practice across all sectors;

■ develop national and international partnerships and strategies to reduce

on-line child abuse; and

■ deliver an agreed and measurable programme of action for the future.

“The internet is a tremendous resource for all of us; parti cularly forchildren. However, there are a small number of people who seek toabuse children and they too see the internet as a resource. As chairof the UK Task Force on Chil d Protection on the I nternet, I amdeeply impressed by the real and practical commitment of thecommunications industry, law enforcement and child protectionorganisations. We need to extend this collaboration, and in particularwork with and learn from colleagues engaged on similar issues inother countries. This conference, which takes place during ourPresidency of the European Union is an important opportuni ty tostrengthen international co-operation and to highli ght and sharegood practi ce.”

Paul Goggins MP, Chairman of the Home Secretary's Taskforceon Child Protection on the Internet

“As the Association of Chief Police Offi cers’ lead responsible for

tackling on-line child abuse in the UK, and as Chair of the VirtualGlobal Taskforce, I full y understand the importance of workingcollaboratively. No one understands the on-line environment betterthan those who have designed and built it. And our new partnershipsmean that no one is better placed than us to deliver solutions, whichdeter and prevent abuse. I beli eve that this conference is a realopportuni ty for al l of us to increase our understanding and delivernew partnerships, which will protect children, families and thecommunity we serve.”

Jim Gamble, Deputy Director General of the National Crime Squadand Chair of Virtual Global Taskforce
