BACKGROUND

• The Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program is currently, primarily housed in the Paul G. Allen Center and is one of the University’s fastest growing programs.

• The Paul G. Allen Center is currently short on space to house the current program and projected future growth significantly increases the shortage.

• The proposed CSE II project would provide additional academic and research space to meet the current and future needs of the CSE program.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

• The CSE II project will provide approximately 134,000 gsf of research, undergraduate education, and related support space for the College of Engineering’s Department of Computer Science & Engineering.

• The preferred site alternative is the current site of the More Hall Annex, across E. Stevens Way from the existing Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science and Engineering.

• The preferred building alternative is a 63 foot high, four and a half story building.

• Existing pedestrian circulation across the site will be maintained and enhanced.

• A Pre-Schematic Design Phase has been completed. Focused on program, scope and cost development of the preferred alternative. Schematic Design began in August 2015 and scheduled for completion in November 2015.

• LMN is the project Architect. Mortenson Construction is the General Contractor/Construction Manager.

• The total project budget is approximately $105M. The project received $17.5M in state funding and $15M from the UW Building account. An additional $4M will come from UW Central Funds and $5M from the College of Engineering. The remaining $63.5M is anticipated to come from a donor fund raising campaign.
