LSHV provides free legal representation to the LGBTQ community in the following areas:
In 2015, LSHV created the LGBTQ Legal Project
in recognition that low-income Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning
(LGBTQ) individuals and their families face
unique legal challenges. LSHV is a not-for-
profit law firm, originally incorporated as
Westchester Legal Services. In 1995 Putnam
and Dutchess Counties were added, and in
2004 Rockland, Orange, Ulster and Sullivan
Counties. Our name has evolved to reflect the
geographic expansion of our service area.
In 2015, LSHV created the LGBTQ Legal Project
in recognition that low-income Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning
(LGBTQ) individuals and their families face
unique legal challenges. LSHV is dedicated
to preserving and advancing the rights of
members of the LGBTQ community to live
with dignity and respect. We do this through
legal representation and advocacy.
