PROBLEMS IN THE PARKING LOT/ENTRANCE•No separate parking lot for patients

•No female guards, barbed wires, CCTV camera are present but are not in working condition

•Hospital sign not in a prominent place

•Building in need of fresh coat of paint

•Cleanliness not up to mark

IMPROVEMENTS THAT CAN BE MADE•Separate parking should be designated for patients

•There should be proper check and balance of security

•The building should be refurbished

•Female guards should be appointed

WAITING AREA

PROBLEMS IN THE WAITING AREA•Crowded since same entrance for patients and students

•No signboard giving directions to the various departments

IMPROVEMENTS THAT CAN BE MADE

POSITIVE ASPECTS•Well-equipped pharmacy

•Separate waiting area for male and female patients

OPD ( OUT PATIENT DEPARTMENT)

POSITIVE ASPECTS•Infectious and non-infectious waste kept separate

•Adequate supply of sterilized instruments

•Cleanliness kept up to the standard

•Dental units are sufficient

PROBLEMS IN THE OPD•Heaters and air conditioners are not in working condition

•Sterilized and unsterilized instruments are kept together

IMPROVEMENTS THAT CAN BE MADE

•Care should be taken to keep sterilized and unsterilized instruments separate

DEPARTMENT OF DENTAL RADIOLOGY

PROBLEMS IN THE RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT

•Patients have been seen waiting inside the room

IMPROVEMENTS THAT CAN BE MADE•Patient and technician should wear a protective lead apron and protective gloves

•Patients should be allotted with numbers so that only one patient enters the room at a time

POSITIVE ASPECTS•Caution signs are displayed prominently on the door and inside the room

•There is a lead wall to limit exposure to radiation

•Lead apron is available

STERILIZATION ROOM

PROBLEMS IN THE STERILIZATION ROOM•Technician not wearing gloves

•The same contaminated tooth brush is used to clean all the instruments

IMPROVEMENTS THAT CAN BE MADE•Technician should wear gloves •Working space should be clean and clean tooth brush should be used for different instruments.

POSITIVE ASPECTS•Autoclave is available and in proper working condition

•Proper packing of instruments

PROBLEMS IN ORAL SURGERY DEPARTMENT•Shortage of assistants

•Only a single dental unit is connected to the generator when there is no electricity

•Shortage of sterilized instruments

•No cauterizer

IMPROVEMENTS THAT CAN BE MADE•More dental units should be installed

•More technicians required

DEPARTMENT OF PERIODONTICS

PROBLEMS IN THE PERIODONTICS DEPARTMENT•Shortage of assistants

•Only one portable suction available

•Wires exposed (potential fire hazard)

•House officers don’t have a proper place to sit when free

•Heater not in working condition

•No glove supply

•Lack of cleanliness

•Record boxes are not arranged in order, therefore are difficult to locate

IMPROVEMENTS THAT CAN BE MADE•At least two technicians required

•Record boxes should be arranged in a proper sequence

•Technicians should be supplied with gloves

•Proper measures should be taken for cleanliness
