with your child to school does NOT contain these products.

Merci à tous ceux qui ont contribué à cette

famille de 8 membres d’avoir quelque chose

sur la table pour le réveillon de Noël.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to

our Christmas Hamper again this year.

We were able to provide a nice food basket

for a family of 8.

Chères familles, Merci d’être venues au concert de Noël. Ce fut un spectacle très réussi qui n’a fait qu’intensifier l’ambiance du temps des fêtes qui règne dans l’école! Thank you to our parents for contributing food to our annual school Christmas diner. A special thank you to all our volunteers in the month of December. We could not have done it without you! Bonne et heureuse année à tous! May your new year be filled with love, laughter, peace and good health. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate in contacting us at the school. Stay warm! Mme VanHumbeck

Dress for the weather

Remember that students only have indoor recess

when it is colder that –27ºC with the wind chill, so

please dress your child ac-cordingly. It is very im-portant that they have a neck warmer or a scarf to

cover their delicate cheeks and good warm winter

mitts.

Your children will soon be on holidays BUT head lice do not take vacations.

It is important to check your child’s head on a regular basis. If you should have

concerns or need any assistance in this regard during the holiday period, please

contact the Public Health Office.

Thank you to Molgat

Shopping Centre and

Sunrise Credit Union of

Laurier for their donation

to our Christmas dinner.

Your support is greatly

appreciated.

C’est de tout coeur qu’on vous souhaite des fêtes éclatantes

de bonheur!

Wishing you good cheer, peace & prosperity this

holiday season.

A big THANK YOU to all the volunteers that helped make the Christmas dinner a success, and

THANK YOU also to Bobby, Liseanne, Marina & Ashton Delaurier, Melanie & Jason

Stykalo, Brandur Gudbrandsson, Kristina & Craig Pearson and

Faith & Gracie McLaughlin who helped our custodian, Mme

Jeannette Fayant, disassemble the stage in preparation for the

dinner.

Happy New Year! 2018 was a wonderful year with lots of great fundraising done for our school. Congratulations to all the winners of our Christmas Basket Draw. Christmas Dinner

basket winner, the Thompson family. Christmas Appetizer Basket Winner, Mme Tracy Delaurier and the Christmas

Dessert Basket winner, Reed Cull. Thank you to everyone for buying and selling tickets, and supporting our wonderful

school and all the best in 2019!

Volunteer Policy The Turtle River School Division has updated it’s School Volunteer Policy. It states: "Child Abuse and Criminal reference checks are to be complete at the time an indi-vidual begins to serve as a volunteer, the process need not to be repeated yearly as long as the volunteer remains connected and known to the school on a continued basis. The school principal reserves the right to request renewal of the Criminal Record Checks and Child Abuse Registry documents at any time. Volunteers who are charged or convicted with a criminal offence are to inform senior administration immediate." *If you wish to be a school volunteer you can come to the school with 2 pieces of photo ID and I will help you complete the Child Abuse registry form, then I will give you a volunteer letter to take to the RCMP to complete your Criminal Record check. Both are free for volunteers. Once both checks are returned you will be able to volunteer. **All Child Abuse and Criminal Record checks done since September 2018 or after are valid. Mme Tracy Delaurier

Friday, February 1st is an Administration day, there is no school.

Honesty is speaking and acting truthfully, and thereby remaining morally upright.

Winter weather…

Wondering if school buses are

running….

Here is how you can find out:

-check for bus cancellations posted on our school division website trsd.ca

-listen to CKDM Dauphin radio for announcements of school bus cancellations

-wait for a phone call from your bus driver

The Seven Teachings are traditional Indigenous values and

beliefs that have helped to shape societies and families in the

past and continue to do so today. These are the teachings of

Respect, Honesty, Wisdom, Love, Courage, Humility and Trust.

Throughout the year, the students will learn about these

teachings. This month, we are focusing on Honesty.

The Sabé represents honesty because it is closer to the Creator than

to humans. It is believed that the Sabé used to walk among humans to

remind us of the Creator’s wish for us to remain true to our natural

forms.

Actions such as being true to our spirit and accepting who we are will guide us in being honest.

Native people believe in the existence of the Sabé and honor it with acceptance and respect.

Jr. Girls Volleyball

We had a wonderful Volleyball season with lots of laughs. The girls put in many hours of

practice and worked very hard to enhance their volleyball skills.  We won a couple of games and

lost a couple but we kept learning from our mistakes. I am very sad that the season is over but

am very proud of our Jr. Girls Volleyball team. I hope they enjoyed this season as much as I did.

Congratulations on a job well done girls!

Also, congratulations to Jacy Brindle for getting the All Star player award for our Jr. Girls

Volleyball team.

Jr. Boys Volleyball  Another volleyball season comes to a close. It was a tough season for the boys with only 6

players but they never gave up and kept encouraging each other until the last serve. This group

of boys worked very hard and improved with every practice and game all season. We are very

proud of our Jr. Boys Volleyball team. I hope they enjoyed their season, I can't wait to see what

happens next year!

Also, congratulations to John Cimarno for getting the All Star player award for our Jr. Boys

Volleyball team.

The rotation begins on January 7th, 2019. The menu is subject to change. We are looking for volunteers to do some casserole preparation for us. All ingredients and recipes will be provided. This month our sacred teaching was love, which is represented by the

eagle. We discussed all of the different ways we show love towards each

other, our school, nature and our community. We also discussed how

love brings us together, especially at Christmas.

Next, we each decorated a Christmas tree that we then assembled to

show how we are bigger and stronger when we s ck together and show

love.
