Welcome to our Hockey Fami ly!
With the season just a few weeks old and already Cobs
have started the season the way they mean to go on. The
close season saw some shuffling around of squad members
with the youth of the club piling the pressure on the oldies
and making them prove there worth whilst others decided it
was time to take a step away from the top flight and
support the future of the club in their developments. Many
thanks go to those choosing to make way and allow others
the chance to shine, and congratulations and good luck to
all those stepping up for the 2014 – 15 season. - Just
remember wherever we are playing…
COBS ROCK!

END OF SEASON MIXED TOUR
Over the years members of the Cobdown Hockey Club have chosen to extend the hockey season by travelling away during the summer and taking part in a Mixed-Hockey tournament. (recent years in the isle of Wight) 2015 is set to be no different and no doubt we shall be setting off on our cheeky travels once more. Typically these tours run Friday evening to Sunday evening with mixed hockey matches being played on the Saturday (sometimes Sunday) before travelling back home. If you would like to join us in 2015 or be involved in the organising of the tour then please contact Keith on [email protected]

Cobdown Youth Players Attend Junior Development
Centre
Following continuous improvement in their hockey
skills during the last 12 months and following
nominations from the club committee, Brook Fowler
and Ben Newmarch (two of the Cobdown Youth
players) have both been successfully selected to attend
coaching at the Kent Junior Development Centre
(JDC) which will be held at Holcombe Hockey Club
over the forthcoming weeks..
The JDC is the first rung of the ladder when it comes
to progressing along the hockey pathway with Junior
Academy Centre’s being the next step up.
Both JDC and JAC Centre’s provide regular training
sessions where players will receive coaching on the
core skills of hockey from appropriately qualified
coaches. As well as training, there will be competition
between local JDCs and between JACs at the next
level. The combination of training and competition
allows players to develop in a variety of situations and
ensures that they are assessed over the whole
programme (at both levels) in more than just the
competition environment. We would like to wish both
players all the best in their development and look
forward to benefitting from their new skills during the
season.
(Brook and Ben can be seen bottom left and second left
respectively in the 2nd team photo below)
