CONCEPT AND THEME

For this project, I had chosen food culture as my theme of this booklet. Food

culture included street food, kopitiam, and coffee culture. I had selected

kopitiam as my theme of this graphical booklet. This is because kopitiam give

me a feeling that in this modern generation there are some people that still

have the passion and love to the culture. Although Kopitiam looks like simple

and not modern, but I really cherish the rich culture of kopitiam.

Kopitiam is a traditional coffee house which provided food and beverages.

Kopi is a Malay or Hokkien term that mean coffee while the word tiam is shop.

Most of the Kopitiam sell some food like egg, bread, tea, and coffee. Kopitiam

mostly can find in Malaysia, Singapore and some part of Indonesia.

So, in this project, I use this opportunity to find some Kopitiam that located in

Kuala Lumpur. As we know, Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia, it is a city.

To find some old fashion but popular Kopitiam is not easy.

I give a title of this booklet is 来！喝什么？Yes! Order Drinks? – Breakfast at KL.

Why I use ‘来！喝什么？Yes! Order Drinks?’ as my title of this booklet? This is

because ‘来！喝什么？Yes! Order Drinks?’is a question that the worker usually

ask, when you step into Kopitiam. It is an interesting book title for my booklet

that suite this theme- Kopitiam.

In this booklet, I choose a circle with a modern color as my booklet design

concept. The meaning behind is I want to bring out the feeling that how the

younger generation look at those old and meaningful culture. As the younger

generation, we need to protect and love those culture and tradition.
