Introduction to Cloud Computing Cloud Computing Architecture Service Models Types of Cloud Virtualization Why/Why not Recommended Cloud Computing Case-Study Conclusion

Contents

An environment created in a user’s machine from an on-line application stored on the cloud and run through a web browser.

In addition, the platform provides on demand services, that are always on, anywhere, anytime and anyplace.

The hardware and software services are available to general public, enterprises, corporations and business markets

What is Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing Examples:

Cloud Computing Architecture

Service Models

SaaS

PaaS

Iaas

Web Browser

Cloud Development Environment

Visual Infrastructure

Manager.

Cloud ApplicationSocial networks, Office

suits, CRM, Video processing

Cloud PlatformProgramming languages,

Frameworks, editors, Structured data

Cloud InfrastructureCompute Servers,

Data Storage, Firewall, Load Balancer

Service Class Main Access & Management Tool

Service Content

Most known and first service, major service given as part of cloud computing service

Is an application that can be accessed from anywhere on the world as long as you can have an computer with an internet connection.

Consumer does not manage or control the underlying cloud infrastructure including network, services, operating systems, storage

E.g. Google Apps, Microsoft Office 365, Gmail, Hotmail, Picasa, Salesforce

Software-as a Service (SaaS)

Give us API(Application Programming Interface) and take care of the implementation.

It is a platform for developers to write and create their own SaaS i.e application.

In this model, cloud providers delivers a computing platform and/or solution stack typically including operating system, programming language execution environment, database and web server.

E.g. Google’s App Engine, Amazon EC2, Microsoft Azure

Platform-as a Service (PaaS)

This is computing power that you can rent for a limited period of time.

An evolution of web site and server hosting services which provided servers and virtual private servers.

Cloud providers offer computers as physical or more often as virtual machines, raw storage, firewalls, load balancers and networks.

E.g. AT&T-Hosting and Storage, Windows Azure, HP, Amazon EC2

Infrastructure-as a service(IaaS)

Comparison - Service Models

Public Cloud Used by multiple tenants on a shared basis Hosted and managed by cloud service provider Limited variety of offerings Lower upfront cost Economies of scale Simpler to manage OpEx E.g. Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Sales force

Types of Cloud

Private Cloud Exclusively used by a single organization Controlled and managed by in-house IT Large number of application Lower total cost Greater control over security, compliance &

quality of service Easier Integration CapEx & OpEx E.g. HP data center, IBM, Sun, Oracle

Types of Cloud

Hybrid Cloud Usage of both public and private together called

hybrid cloud Organization may host critical apps on private

clouds.

Types of Cloud

Virtualization is “ something which is not REAL, but displays the full qualities of the REAL.

Virtualization Provides:-Hardware Platform-Operating System-Storage device-Network resources- Software implementation

Virtualization

Single OS image per machine Software and hardware

tightly coupled Running multiple application

on same machine often creates conflict

Inflexible and costly infrastructure.

Before Virtualization

Hardware-independence of operating system and applications.

Virtual Machines can be provisioned to any system.

Can manage OS and application as a single unit by encapsulating them into Virtual Machines.

After Virtualization

Why/Why Not Recommend Cloud Computing

Why??y? Achieve economies of scale Reduce spending on

technology infrastructure Back up and recovery Reduce capital cost Improve accessibility Monitor project more

effectively Easy access to information Improve flexibility

Why Not?? Technical Issue Security Prone to attack Lack of Control

Services:- Managed It Security Smart City Solutions Cloud Computing Social Media Integration E-Governance Solutions IT Infrastructure

Modernization Broadband Solutions

Case Study

Allied Digital Services Ltd.

Case StudyClient: Leading Financial Services Group based in California that provides broker-dealer services and advisory programs for approximately 5000 independent financial professionals and more than 700 financial institutions nationwide.

The Challenges:Clients Data Canter was co-located at Denver in parent company facility. The entire IT environment, then was managed for a number of years by another major global service provider. Under the prior engagement, the client had minimal flexibility to tailor the services being delivered. To overcome these challenges, client were looking for a strategic partner that could provide a comprehensive turn-key solutions and manage the entire process include: Flexibility and customization of operations provided by previous vendor. Lack of transparency in pricing and SLA Move form manual based operations to automated environment Roll out and implementation of the desktops and supporting server

infrastructure for the new entity.

Case Study

The Solution:Allied Digital conducted detailed due diligence exercise through multiple workshops with numerous groups within the clients environment for through process and requirement gathering. Initially the solution was rolled out on Pilot basis in one of the branches for testing, validation and refinement of solution and processesOur Scope of work includes: Migration of end user computing(EUC) infrastructure Remote Desktop Management Services On-Site desk side support services Global Help Desk Services & Support(24x7) Server Management and Monitoring Vendor Management Printer Management & Maintenance Services Technology Refresh Services

Case Study

The Benefits: Cost reduction achieved by merely migrating from existing

vendor In addition to ability to track unauthorized application in

environment, greater security was ensured through deployment of automated and managed patch distribution

Single dashboard reporting, assisted management team to get bird eye view of their information

Proactive monitoring and remote remediation led to additional production uptime.

Well defined SLAs improved service availability for business critical applications

Case Study

Key Highlights: Server Availability-100% Improved first call resolution-70% Images Distributed-272 Antivirus Definition updated- 412 Security patches applied-3200 Average SLA compliance Response- 100% Resolution- 99.95%

Conclusion

Cloud Computing is evolved by consolidating several technologies like SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and Virtualization

Multiple choices as public, private and Hybrid depending on requirement.

3 cloud models: Private, Public and Hybrid Virtualization is economic and cost effective.
