cloud computing
DESCRIPTION
Project on cloud computingTRANSCRIPT
What Is Cloud Computing:-
• Technology that uses the internet and central remote servers to maintain data and applications.
• Allows consumers and businesses to use applications without installation and access their personal files at any computer with internet access.
• This technology allows for much more efficient computing by centralizing storage, memory, processing and bandwidth.
Example of Cloud Computing:-
Autonomic computing refers to the self-managing characteristics of distributed computing resources, adapting to unpredictable changes while hiding intrinsic complexity to operators and users.
The client–server model is a distributed application structure in computing that partitions tasks or workloads between the providers of a resource or service, called servers, and service requesters, called clients.
Grid computing is the collection of computer resources from multiple locations to reach a common goal.
The grid can be thought of as a distributed system with non-interactive workloads that involve a large number of files.
Mainframe: a large digital computer serving 100-400 users and occupying a special air-conditioned room.
Utility computing is the packaging of computing resources, such as computation, storage and services, as a metered service.
This model has the advantage of a low or no initial cost to acquire computer resources; instead, computational resources are essentially rented.
Denoting networks in which each computer can act as a server for the others, allowing shared access to files and peripherals without the need for a central server.
Classification of Cloud on the basis of service provided
Software as a service (SaaS)
This is the most common form of cloud computing which we see in action. It is a complete software offering on the cloud. They are accessed by the customers on pay per use basis.
Example:-
Gmail , Hotmail etc
Platform as a service (PaaS)
• The consumer creates the software using tools and libraries from the provider.
• The consumer also controls software deployment and configuration settings.
• The provider provides the networks, servers and storage .
• Example:-Dreamweaver,JDK,NET etc.
Infrastructure as a service (IaaS)
Hardware related services are provided using the principles of Cloud Computing.
These include disk storage and virtual servers.
Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Rackspace Cloud Servers are some of the leading vendors.
Cloud Computing classified basis of location
• Public Cloud
• Private Cloud
• Hybrid Cloud
• Community Cloud
Public Cloud • Computing
infrastructure is hosted at the vendor’s premises.
• The customer has no visibility over the location of the cloud computing infrastructure.
• The computing infrastructure is shared between organizations.
Private Cloud
• Computing architecture is dedicated to the customer and is not shared with other organizations.
• Private clouds may be externally hosted ones as well as in premise hosted clouds.
Hybrid Cloud
• Organizations host some critical, secure applications in private clouds. The not so critical applications are hosted in the public cloud.
• The combination is known as Hybrid Cloud.
Community Cloud
The cloud infrastructure is shared between the organizations of the same community.
Advantages:-
• Can be less expensive compared to buying software and hardware.
• Can be used from any computer or device with an Internet connection.
• The device does not need as large of an internal storage system.
• Compatible with most computers and operating systems.
• Updates occur across the service.
Disadvantages:-
• Security & Privacy • Dependency (loss of
control)• Cost • Decreased flexibility • Knowledge And
Integration
