BIG NEWS FOR THIS FORTNIGHT!!! The Commonwealth Games Baton arrives at Cloncurry State School P-12 on Tuesday 6 March at 8:53 am under the Burke and Wills Shed. We wish our students, Brandee Ferguson Year 10 and Darcie Lee Ashton Yr 12, all the best as they participate in the Baton Relay!!! Such a wonderful life experience to have as a ‘forever memory’. Congratlulations to all other Baton carriers from our community as well. Everyone is welcome to join us for this very memborable event. On Wendesday , I travelled to Townsville for the North Queensland Secondary School Principals’ Meeting. The meetings are held every term and are a great opportunity for professional discussion and to receive updates regarding management and curriculum matters. It was reaffirmting to have the success of our students’ progress in writing acknowledged by the Assistance Regional Director. ‘Writing’ across the secondary school curriculum is a key focus for secondary schools in our region, as it underpins successful leanring across all lyear levels. Thankyou to our wonderful chaplain and her special connections, we were able to have a fantastic group of YWAM’ers ‘Youth With A Misson’ in and around our community this week. Our visitors were involved in school and community activities and the students enjoyed engaging with them in and around the school. Next Monday morning will be our Pathways Parades for both Primary and Secondary. Secondary parade is held in the Resource Centre and the Primary parade under the covered area near the tuckshop. Congratulations to recipients of the Principal’s Awards this fortnight. Have a great week end, Christine Norton Principal

Chappy’s chat….
Thank you! Firstly I would like to thank all students, staff and families of Cloncurry State School P-12 for being so welcoming and helpful while I’m settling in. What’s been happening?
Netball Training has been happening every Thursday at 2.45pm to 3.45pm for students from years 5 to 12. Last week the students played against the teachers, for some this was their first ever game of netball. They played a great game and I see them all improving each time they play.
YWAM – Youth with a Mission YWAM is an evangelical interdenominational, non-profit Christian, missionary organization. They work to help meet the practical and physical needs of the global community through its many relief and development initiatives. We have had the privilege to have YWAM come into our school and our community to connect with our students by showing them how to play handball and showing their skills in basketball. They have also connected with some classes to be extra support and participate in any way they can. It has been a great week for the school and the community of Cloncurry. Thank you for welcoming the YWAM group to our school and community.
Commissioning 11th March 2018 I would like to invite the community, teachers, students and parents to my commissioning on the 11th March 2018 at 9am at The Assemblies of God Church, 21 Ramsay Street. A commissioning is the act of granting certain powers or authority to carry out a particular task or duty. It is an opportunity to give our blessings to the ministries of what a chaplain will provide in the coming year and to affirm their sense of calling to the role of a chaplain.
Please, contact me through the school on 4742 8333 between 8am to 3.45pm. Chappy Tania….
