Bad breath t y p i c a l l y o r i g i n a t e s i nthe mouth, often from the backof the tongue. Nasal problemsalso can cause bad b r e a t h ; odorgenerated i n t h i s manner can bee a s i l y d i s t i n g u i s h e d from m o u t hodor by comparing the odor e x i t -i n g the mouth an d nose. I n mostcases, good p r o f e s s i o n a l o r a lcare combin ed with a d a i l y r e g i -men of o r a l hygiene-includinginterdental cleaning, deeptongue cleaning an d o p t i o n a lus e o f an e f f i c a c i o u s mouth-rinse-will lead to improvement.This a r t i c l e discusses commoncauses o f o r a l malodor as w e l las methods to assess the extentof the problem.
