PRAYER TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN (Never known to fail)Oh, most beautiful flower of Mt. Carmel, fruitful vine splendor of Heaven. Blessed Mother of the Son of God. Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me, herein you are my mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth! I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to answer me in this necessity. There are none that can withstand your power. Oh, show me herein you are my mother. Oh, Mary con-ceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3x). Holy Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Holy Spirit, you who solve all problems, light all roads so that I can attain my goal, you who gave me the divine gift to forgive and forget all evil against me and that in all instances in my life you are with me. I want in this short prayer to thank you for all things as you confirm once again that I never want to be separated from you in eternal glory. Thank you for your mercy towards me and mine. The person must say this prayer 3 consecutive days, after 3 days the request will be granted. This prayer must be published after the favor is granted. Thank you for favor received. J.L.

Saint Patrick’s Day

Celebrations There are roughly 70 mil-lion Irish decendants around the world, and many will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this March 17. While sev-eral will be hitting the pubs or participating in parades, traditional Gaelic games are also a fun way to celebrate. Gaelic football, for exam-ple, is a hybrid of soccer and rugby. The ball used in Gael-ic football is round, slightly smaller than a soccer ball, and there are 15 players on each team. Another sport to try is hurling, a game like hockey with a small ball and a curled wooden stick. Hurl-ing is thought to be the old-est fi eld game in European history.

Did You Know? The fi rst Saint Patrick’s Day parade took place in New York City and not on the Emerald Isle. In 1762, Irish soldiers serving in the English military became the fi rst to hold a Saint Patrick’s Day parade in what would eventually become the United States of America. The parade was organized to give Irish soldiers a chance to reconnect with their fellow Irishmen while also cel-ebrating their customs and heritage despite being overseas. The parade also had more profound effects, increasing Irish patriotism among American immigrants with Irish ancestry. That grow-ing patriotism soon led to “Irish Aid” societies, including the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick and the Hibernian Society. Each of these groups followed the Irish soldiers’ lead, hosting their own annual parades, many of which featured bagpipes, which were originally most popular in Scot-land but have since become a symbol synonymous with Saint Patrick’s Day cel-ebrations. Eventually, the New York-based Irish Aid societies decided to unite their parades and the New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade was born. That parade remains one of the world’s most well known and popular Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations and rou-tinely involves more than 150,000 participants, many of whom are not of Irish descent. Now a fi ve-hour-long procession, the New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade typically draws as many as three million spectators along the city’s famed Fifth Avenue.

Patrick Still a Popular Name Name: Patrick

Origin: Latin

Meaning: Patrician, or noble. Patrick is a derivative of pa-trician, which means an aris-tocrat.

History: The Irish association with the name Patrick comes from St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Other varia-tions of the name in Ireland are Padric and Padraic. Pat-rick is popular in other cul-tures as well, with many hav-ing a variation on the name, like Patrico for the Spanish and Portuguese.

Popularity: Although in recent years the propensity to name boys Patrick has declined, it still remains a popular name across the globe.
