At JBF, you control how much you make because you set your own prices. If you are just interested in dropping your items off the week of the sale, you will earn 60% less an $11 consignor fee. Consignors who also work at least one 4 hour shift during the event, earn 70% less the same $11 fee, plus earn an earlier presale shopping pass.

To get started, you will need to do two things. First, gather your supplies (see page 4) and then you will need all of your STUFF!Since our sales take place twice a year, each event features seasonally appropriate clothing. Think colder weather for the Fall/Winter sales and warmer weather clothing for the Spring/Summer sales. We’ve created the guide below to help you know what’s in and what’s out!

Tagging Your Merchandise

General Tagging Guidelines:• All items must be tagged using our online tagging system. To log into your tagging account, simply go to your JBF Profile, log in

and click, “Enter My Tags”.

Tech TipThe system is viewed best in Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer. Please avoid using Chrome to print tags.

Entering Your Tags

CATEGORY Choose a category that make sense to you; choose miscellaneous or leave blank if needed.

ITEM DESCRIPTION Include detailed descriptions on tags. Always start with the brand name and include the color if applicable. For example “Gymboree Red Flowered Shirt with Matching Blue Pants”. The better the description the more likely we can match a lost tag to your item and get it back onto the sales floor .

REDUCE Check this box if you want the item sold at 50% off on the last day of the sale; we recommend choosing “reduce”.

DONATE Check this box to donate an item that does not sell to our JBF Charity Partner; rest assured, your item will go to local area families in need.

QUANTITY This option allows you to quickly produce tags if you have more than one of the exact same item (same color, size, and brand).

Time Saving Tips• Update your “My Profile” to default to donate or reduce on all tags.

• If you sort your items by gender, size, and category before entering tags, you can use the “Rapid Entry” for quicker entry.

Printing Tags:• If printing with a laser printer be sure to select “heavy” paper or the ink

may smear and the tag may scan improperly.

• Tags must be printed on white card stock (60lb+). Paper tags will be rejected.

• Save paper and ink by printing tags via the PDF option (prints 6 tags per page).

• Be sure that your printer setting is set for landscape, if you do not change this the tags will print smaller than allowed. Printed tags should cover the entire 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper.

Prepping Clothing:

General Clothing Guidelines:• Clothing must be look (and smell) good! Snaps, buttons, and zippers need to be snapped, buttoned or zipped.

• We are unable to accept items that are overly worn, stained or out of current fashion.

Hanging Clothing:• Hangers should form a “?” with the opening pointing to the left

when looking at the item.

• Tags must be located to the upper right shoulder area of a shirt or upper right front hip of pants.

• If using a tagging gun, place needle through seams or the inside tag on clothes, avoid making a hole on the clothing item.

• Safety pin the heavier item of a set to the hanger, then the lighter item to the heavier item. This will prevent stretching the material of the clothes.

• Pin the pants to the TOP ANGLED PART of the hanger, not the bottom straight edge. Use LARGE safety pins to attach pants.

• Strappy items such as swimsuits, sleeveless tops and dresses should be pinned to the hanger.

Time Saving Tip • Up to 5 onesies can be placed in a Ziploc bag.

• Infant sleepers under 24 months may also be bagged.

Step 3: Prepping & Pricing Your Items

Prepping Shoes, Toys, Books, Games and Accessories

General Guidelines:• All items must be clean and complete! No missing pieces, dirty toys or items without

working batteries please.

• Smaller pieces should be bagged and taped or zip tied to the larger part of the toy.

• Group sets in a Ziploc bag and use packaging tape to seal bag shut.

• Tags should be placed on the outside of any Ziploc bag. Refrain from placing excessive amounts of tape over the barcode as this interferes with scanning.

Preparing Shoes:• Use a zip tie, yarn or string to

attach shoes together securely.

Toys:• Smaller pieces should be bagged and taped or zip tied to the larger part of the toy.

• Group sets in a Ziploc bag.

Multiple Piece Toys:• Make a tag on each piece.

• The first tag will be the standard barcode tag with all of the necessary information. Write “1 of X”, (X is the number of pieces) directly below the printed barcode.

• For all additional pieces, use card stock to write your consignor number, item # and “2 of X”, “3 of X” etc. on subsequent pieces.

• Put the barcode & price on the first tag ONLY. Please do not put the price on any other tags.

Books, DVDs, Puzzles & Games:• Use scotch or blue painter’s tape to secure the tag to books, puzzles and games to

avoid damaging the item with heavy packaging tape.

• Use saran or press n seal wrap to group or secure books, puzzles, and games.

Accessories: • Place hair accessories in a Ziploc bag.

• Use an index card to display hair barrettes.

• Lay socks or tights flat in Ziploc bags. Sets sell best for socks and tights.

• Roll belts and tie with string.

• Hats can be tagged using safety pins or a tagging gun.

Step 3: Prepping & Pricing Your Items

The Price MUST be Right!

Shoppers come to JBF expecting the best quality items as well as the opportunity to get the most bang for their buck. Your “stuff” is competing with thousands of similar items and brands. To sell, you must price smart!

General Pricing Guidelines:• Use only 50¢ increments. Items cannot be priced $2.99, etc.

• Sets sell better! Group a set of 3 shirts, of the same brand and size, together for $5 vs. $2 each.

Let it Go!

• If you chose to reduce your item no star will be printed on the tag. During our half price portion of the sale, this item will be available for sale at half of your set price.

• Be selective on what you do not reduce. Items with no stars tend to sell better throughout the entire sale, even full price days.

• If you are going to donate your items, please select them to reduce.

Keys to Success:• Check out our website for the comprehensive pricing guidelines.

• General rule of thumb is price item 1/4 to 1/3 of the original price.

• If you find that many of your items did not sell, often times, the price was not right!
