Principal’s Report
Issue 17
9th November
On Monday and Wednesday night our 5/6
students treated us to a wonderful musical
performance of Alice. The students, together
with the 5/6 teachers and Miss Tayleur, worked
very hard to make the production a wonderful
community event. The students sang, danced
and performed their lines with confidence and enthusiasm and it was terrific to
watch. The students will perform the musical for all students on Monday 20th
November starting at 9:30 am and I invite any parents to come and see this
spectacular event.
Organisation for the beginning of 2018 has begun. Staff return on Monday 29th
January and we will be using Monday and Tuesday of that week as organisational
days and for professional learning. Students will begin on Wednesday 31st
January. The 2018 Prep students have a different timetable which will be distributed
on their Orientation morning on Monday 4th December. The students from Prep-5
will spend time in their 2018 classes on Tuesday 12th December.
Booklists for 2018 have been distributed to students. We will continue the process of bulk purchasing of
items through the school. This means the school orders all that your child will require for the year in one big
order and teachers will distribute the items students require at the beginning of the year. We will still have a
book payment day on Monday January 22nd 2018. On this day the school will be open for parents to make
payment to the school for the booklists items.
Even though we are nearing the end of the year a lot of teaching and learning is still occurring. While I
understand their may be special events occurring we would like all students here at school every day,
unless they are unwell. One absence a week adds up to more than 5 weeks a year or over their primary
schooling years one whole year missed. Students who are absent often can have trouble adjusting
socially and miss many learning opportunities. Make every school day count for your child.
Staff are beginning to complete assessments and write reports about student
learning over the year. Student reports will go home in the last week of term. They
will not be available for parents before the 20th December.
ART TRAIL—Wednesday 22nd November Anytime from 3:30 concluding at
6:00pm
I encourage all the community to come along and enjoy the magnificent
displays and exhibition of art work all prepared by the talented children
at Clayton South Primary. Your child will lead you on a journey to see all
the art throughout our school. Please
leave at least half an hour to see
everything.
World Teacher Day was on Friday 27th October. Every day, teachers are making a difference educating and
inspiring young people. World Teachers' Day is an opportunity to acknowledge
teachers and say thanks for the significant contributions they make in
communities. The teachers at Clayton South are a very dedicated and
hardworking bunch of people and I feel privileged to work with such a great
team who inspire, encourage, mentor and help build our students to be
successful citizens. Thank you
