The Karthika Masam is the month in which the full Moon day (Poornima) occurs in the Krittika star. The Krittika star is the most prominent star as it is the star of Agni

Devata. Since Karthika Masam is very auspicious, religious rituals are performed in all Devalayas. On the Karthika Poornima day, Abhishekams are performed in Sivalayas and Satyanarayana Swamy Vratams are performed in Kesavaalayas along with many other

rituals. Karthika deepams are the Jyoti Swarupa of Parameswara and are lit throughout the Karthika Masam and especially on Karthika Poornima day.
