DESCRIPTION

Building the Classroom of the Future… but I’m here now! Superintendents, principals and administrators want to bring their classrooms into the 21st century, but where does a school district start? How do you communicate with real world experts, sort through tidal waves of information and build media rich classroom experiences starting with what you have? You have the personnel, you have the finances and it’s time to move forward. We will discuss 21st century classroom expectations, the concepts of starting small, building success, collaborating and getting things done.

A day in the life – students A & B

• What are the differences between literacy now and literacy ten years ago

Page 7: Classroom of Future

Challenge

• Student reports on a recent event in history– prove that the event happened in the manner

most widely accepted by using valid primary and secondary eyewitness reports

Page 8: Classroom of Future

Student A

• I found a lot of eyewitness reports on the Internet, in fact I almost had too many– The best site was allowed people to post their

experiences for others to share– Selecting some of the best, I built my report step

by step, providing an almost hour-by-hour view of the event. I almost feel like I lived through it.

Page 9: Classroom of Future

Student B

• I really liked the reports I saw on this site, but wanted to assure that they were valid

• I performed a “Whois” lookup and found out that the site was owned by a fiction writer’s club

• After some more searching, and validating, I found some legitimate sites that allowed me to collect the quotes I needed
