Learn more about Burlington’s new Site Alteration Bylaw

The City of Burlington is updating its Site Alteration Bylaw. The bylaw allows the city to regulate how a piece of land can be altered, e.g. by lling, grading or excavation.

Since the bylaw was last updated in 2003, soil disposal has increasingly become an issue in Southern Ontario. Stronger site alteration bylaw provisions are necessary to regulate impacts to the environment and drainage patterns.

The Site Alteration Bylaw is being revised to re ect:

• current best practices in the industry• up-to-date environmental requirements to ensure site

work does not negatively impact the environment• improved monitoring and enforcement capabilities.

To learn more about the proposed changes to Burlington’s Site Alteration Bylaw, please attend a public information meeting on Thursday, June 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. at City Hall, 426 Brant St., Room 247.

A draft of the proposed bylaw is also available for review at www.burlington.ca/publicmeetings.

Please provide comments by Thursday, June 12th. Forward your comments to Teresa Giangregorio at
