HENCHMAN FOR FLORIDA LAND GRAB SCHEMES?

Pompano Beach, FL, July 23, 2010 – The City of Pompano Beach, Floridais facing its fair share of troubles due to the exposure of a decade long land grab

scheme whereby its so-called Community Redevelopment Agency grabbed private

properties from citizens, churches, organizations and businesses without any legal

right to do so with the aims of flipping properties over to big developers.

Longtime City Attorney Gordon B. Linn was a named attorney on many of these

grabs, and now eyes are on him as to his knowledge of the illegal creation of the

CRA and his involvement its subsequent unconstitutional and illegal takings of

private property.

Gordon is no stranger to corruption and upset in the government of

Pompano Beach. Ironically Linn was promoted to City Attorney in 1995 from

being the Assistant City Attorney for four years upon the firing of his boss, Sharon

Thorsen and the demotion of the City Manager and resignation of many over the

proliferation of adult businesses and various accusations of impropriety at the

time.

Now the clock may be ticking for Linn himself. The case that first shed

light on the Community Redevelopment Agency’s fraud was the Pompano Beach

Community Redevelopment Agency v. Derriek Phillips case whereby the CRA

was found to have been created illegally and have no authority of eminent domain

to take Phillips’ property. City Attorney Gordon Linn was the attorney for theCRA in that case along with Mitchell J. Burnstein, and even though he had first

hand knowledge of this ruling, and the ruling was again upheld in the District

Court of Appeal, this gave him no pause in continuing to seize lands from private

citizens and businesses on behalf of the CRA.

An examination of these land grabs reveals an extensive litany of

questionable if not wholly illegal tactics to include the use of The Urban Group

private property acquisition firm to stage the illegal takings for the CRA, which is

reported to visit private property unannounced, pose as government officials to

enter private property, identify the Urban Group as an independent non-biased

consulting company and/or mediation firm, and pose as an advocate for and

representative of property owners against the CRA, when it is commissioned by

the CRA.

Gordon Linn’s teaming with Mitchell J. Burnstein of the private Weiss,

Serota, Helfman, Pastoriza, Cole & Boniske law firm in many of these cases is

also being questioned with accusations of attempts to destroy the public through a

series of bait and switch schemes, falsifying and destroying records, lying to the

public and lying to the Court, using diversions, delays and denial tactics, nepotism

(Burnstein’s mother is the recently retired Judge Miette K. Burnstein), cronyism

and collusion with respondent attorneys and the judicial system, physical threatsand threats of financial ruin against respondents, blockades of evidence and facts,

and blockades against respondents’ obtaining counsel, all ultimately to block the

public from ever defending against the illegal land grabs.

Compounding the issue is that while at least one land grab case is still open,

most of the cases were adjudicated under the fraud, and the properties taken,

destroyed, and some built over. With no going back, class action seems to be hot

on the minds of many, and could result in billions of dollars of claims against the

city. Perhaps the old adage of “Crime does not pay” will prove true as the land

taken for pennies on the dollar may now become very costly, in more ways thanone.

The Supreme Court of Florida recently convened the 19th Statewide Grand

Jury on Public Corruption to root out the corruption epidemic in Florida, and

thanks to FBI stings, those close to the Gordon Linn have been recently sent to

jail, such as Vincente Thrower. A hand-appointed member of the Advisory Board

to the CRA, Thrower was arrested for bribery and unlawful compensation for

misusing his position and making deals with developers and money lenders. City

Attorney Gordon Linn knew of Thrower's extra-curricular 'consulting' work as he

is reported by The South Florida Times to have handed over the city’s official

opinion on it by Mark Berman in 2006.

As for Linn, at the very least his legal stewardship of the city is in question,

and at the most is his knowing involvement and perpetration of a criminal land

grab scheme on the grandest of scales. Further investigation will likely reveal the

truth, with a demand for justice being the outcry of land grab victims.
