The Acceleration Stats window also provides array management functionality. Table 1-1 lists and explains these functions.

Setting the Garbage ThresholdGarbage Collection (GC) starts eviction and frees write blocks when the {gc_threshold%} of write blocks are free. To set the GC, do the following:

Table 1-1 Acceleration Stats Descriptions

Function Name Description Notes

Garbage Collection Threshold (GC)

GC starts eviction and frees write blocks when the {gc_threshold%} of write blocks are free.

The default threshold value is 30%.

If GC already triggered, the GUI will pop up a message.

Date Age Timer Updates the maximum data_age of each write_block. Data age is calculated from the time the data is first written after this interval, the complete data in the write_block is flushed.

Its value is in terms of milliseconds with a default value of 500 milliseconds.

GC Trigger Initiates Initiates Garbage Collection (GC) outside of the threshold parameter set by the Threshold GC function.

Release Reserve/Recreate Reserve

For deduplication nodes:

• For Release 5.0.1.2a and later, if a disk-full scenario occurs, the Release Reserve function releases 10GB of the Volume Group so that the writing and deleting data can continue.

• Recreate Reserve reinstates the 10GB Reserve LV.

Reserve LV can only be recreated if the physical space availability is greater than 50 GB. Before attempting to recreate a Reserve LV, check the available space on the Volume Group using the GUI (see Release Reserve/Recreate Reserve later in this section).

• A 10 GB Reserve LV is factory set.

• The default button on a deduplication node is Release Reserve.

• Once the reserve is released, the Recreate Reserve button is displayed in its place.

Note If the Reserve LV was released prior to the upgrade to OS v5.0.1.3, then the Reserve LV will NOT be automatically created by the WSP package upon install. In this case, create the Reserve LV again manually after the WSP install by logging in as Super User.
