Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! A relatively quiet year for the Ridleys this year...John has been home since just before Christmas 2012 and has been working on two main projects - one for local broadband and the other a gluten free Middle Eastern cookbook. He is gradually changing from Radio Engineer to Writer. However, having said that he’s just disappeared to Jakarta in Indonesia for a few weeks, with the likelihood
of going to Burma afterwards. As usual nothing is certain.
Patrick on the other hand has had a very exciting year. He spent the first five months on a little island off the coast of Tanzania called Mafia Island, living in a very basic camp near the beach and diving most days. He got a BTEC in Conservation Management whilst there. He had such a wonderful
time he’s gone back again for the winter!
He also managed to have a week in Switzerland, hence the mountains. He managed a few dives off the south coast during the summer. He also achieved his Silver Duke of Edinburgh.
He’s still on course for a diving career, with some photography thrown in.

PHOTOS FROM THIS YEAR
John and I in a rare photo, my mum who was 93 in November and our lovely dog Poppy enjoying the wind in her face. Patrick took the photo of the chameleon and entered in a photo competition and won People’s choice! Then it’s Patrick holding a fish he caught in deep waters - he took it back to camp for tea. He went diving off Lundy Island and swam with the seals - lucky boy. He had a mohawk haircut on the island to keep cool but did return to looking quite normal in the UK!
Finally about me - still singing - our 7 person group had our debut at a cabaret the other night! I’ve gone back to part time work - with a small local publisher - which I am really enjoying. Still do enough things never to have time to do anything!
All enjoying life then - split in different parts of the world for Christmas - thank goodness for Skype! Love to all xxxx
