Choosing the perfect wedding venue So he's popped the question, and you've said yes. Relatives have been informed. You have a date in mind. Now all you need to do is find the perfect venue. Here are some tips on how to go about finding the venue that suits you, and what sort of options are available near London. Options available As you may well have noticed, more and more weddings are being held away from the traditional hotel function rooms these days. Barns, stately homes, country houses, marquee, weddings at home, and small restaurant weddings are all gaining popularity as couples look for more flexibility, and unique wedding experiences. Private country houses, usually which come with historic grounds and gardens, and beautiful views, are becoming more popular. These great venues provide an ideal backdrop for the big day photographs, as well as providing suitable spaces for the wedding ceremony, reception, overnight accommodation, and next day barbecue and activities. Bride, groom and wedding guests are afforded a secluded experience, away from prying eyes, and disruptions, and a perfect location to celebrate the biggest day of your life. When it comes to wedding venues near London, there is plenty of choice, and many good options of exclusive hire and private wedding venues. Things to consider The size of the wedding you’re planning, whether you’re having a church or civil ceremony and how hands on you want to be, will largely determine what type of venue you'll be looking at. A home or marquee wedding is not ideal for those who want to minimise hassle and stress, and a restaurant won't be suitable if you're planning on inviting lots of guests. The distance that you, and the majority of your guests, will have to travel is another important consideration. It may be a good idea to make a list of features that you won't compromise on, and a list of things you would like in an ideal world, before visiting venues.

Questions to ask When viewing potential venues, asking the right questions can be key to making the right choices. While it may be obvious to ask if it's available on the required date, this question is paramount. There is no point in setting your heart on a venue, when it's already booked out for the date you've spend ages confirming. It may also be important for you that you are the only wedding at the venue on the day, and this should be confirmed. Practicalities like how easy the venue is to find, how many people can be accommodated, and how many car parking spaces are available will need to be confirmed. If you are planning firework displays, loud music, or confetti throwing, you will need to check if these are permissible. If you are planning a civil wedding, you will need to check if the venue is licensed to carry out such ceremonies. Cost is also a major factor, and questions relating to cost, what's included in the price, and what packages are available will need to addressed.
