    THANK YOU!

  • THANK YOUAnthony & Tana wanted to share the following letter, sent by the SalisburyHospice Charity.‘I am writing to acknowledge and thank you very much indeed for your generousdonation of £300, raised by selling crepes at your recent village get together. How kind of you to raise funds for us in this way and please pass our thanks on toeveryone who made a donation. I am glad that the day was enjoyed by your fellowvillagers, especially at this difficult time. With all our forthcoming events either postponed or cancelled for this year, ourincome has obviously been hit very hard. The local community really have cometogether to show their support. From generous donations, through to ingeniousways to fund raise during ‘lock down’, including quizzes, head shaves, virtual walksand 24 hour music events, their support has been invaluable. It is due to this support that Salisbury Hospice Charity can continue to raisefunds during these difficult times. We are still aiming to raise £1.5 million thisyear, towards the essential care and support offered by the hospice.Thank you once again on behalf of Salisbury Hospice.Yours sincerely,Tamsin Murley’

CHARITY BIKE RIDE FOR SALISBURY HOSPICEAngela and Virginia would like to say an enormous thank you to allthose who so generously sponsored us.Salisbury Hospice are delighted with the sum of £1,740.00 that has been raisedwith your help. With Gift Aid included this will benefit the Salisbury HospiceCharity with over £2,156.00.It costs nearly £2.4m a year to run Salisbury Hospice. They receive someGovernment funding, but the Salisbury Hospice Charity aims to raise £1.5m ayear to ensure vital services are maintained. We cycled as part of the PrudentialRide London festival that was due to take place on 15th and 16th August. Due tothe pandemic the mass event was cancelled but, people were encouraged to get ontheir bikes and raise money for the UK’s charities who have lost billions in income.Angela and I set out with the modest ambition to reach Wylye but surprisedourselves by cycling all the way to Wilton, a round trip of nearly 30 miles! It wasso lovely to cycle through the villages, look at the churches and chat to people enroute. We met a lady in Great Wishford whose husband had been looked after bythe Salisbury Hospice Charity which highlighted that we were cycling to support avery worthwhile cause.

The back road to the southof the Wylye Valley formspart of the Wiltshire cycleway and is such a beautifulroute, right on ourdoorstep. Last Sundaythere was very littletraffic, just lots of othercyclists, mostly clad inLycra – unlike us! As aresult of our very enjoyableride both of us have beeninspired to be moreambitious in our cycling andcross the A36 on occasion.Thank you again for yoursupport.Angela and Virginia
