ARMY ACTIVITIESPlease be aware that SPTA will no longer be sending out the SPTA Newsletter. In future if you could just post thishyperlink www.gov.uk/government/publications/salisbury-plain-training-area-spta-newsletter on to your web sites or in your newsletters so your readers canstill obtain the monthly SPTA Newsletter, where it will still be uploaded everymonth as usual should they require it.RegardsTania Hackford

The Editor of Chit Chat is very aware that some villagers do not have access to acomputer and therefore will ensure that the main points are still included here. Alsoshe is not 100% convinced that the hyperlink will work!

TRAININGThe first two weeks in July will be very busy on the Plain starting with thecontinuation of the Field Training Unit Ex WESSEX STORM with 1st Bn RoyalAnglian Regiment. During the remainder of the month there are numerous lightrole Infantry companies conducting low level training across the Plain. In additionthe Plain will see the largest armoured exercise in the calendar; Ex LIONS STRIKE,involving the Combined Arms Tactics Course, using the Imber Ranges and CopehillDown village. The public should be aware that tank crossings over the A360, A345, A338,B390, and the C22 (Tilshead to Chitterne) roads will be very busy and if conditions are wet,mud clearance parties will be working on the crossings. In dry weather conditions dust cloudsmay produce a hazard at these crossings. Notice is given that the training areas in theCopehill Down and Bourne Valley (SPTA East) areas will be heavily used by tracked andwheeled armoured vehicles over this period and that recreational use of the Salisbury Plainmilitary lands is to be restricted to public rights of way only as per the byelaws.
