Wesley Methodist School KualaLumpur (International) hosted visitorsfrom a school in China. The Chinastudents visited our school for a dayto experience life in Wesley. Severalstudent ambassadors had

been chosen by teachers to show thestudents around. The visitors arrivedshortly after upper secondary recess,at around 11.00 a.m. All the studentambassadors were then called to theJohn Wesley Room, also known asthe Conference Room, to meet themand for a briefing. A short video wasalso put together for the visitors tolearn about all the activities andevents that had taken place over theyears, such as the annual concert, aswell as the achievements of thestudents. The China students werethen to join the student ambassadorsin their classes, taking part in thelesons

lessons. If there were subjects wherethey did not understand what wasbeing taught, the studentambassadors were to help them andensure that they followed the lesson.Soon, lessons ended when the timecame for lunch. Food could beclaimed for both the studentambassadors and exchange studentsusing the coupon that had been givento them earlier in the day. The visitorswere then shown around the schoolby their respective ambassadors. Aslunch came to an end, the visitorsjoined the ambassadors in theirclasses. However, all good thingsmust come to an end. The visitorshad to leave at 1.45 p.m. They all metup with their student ambassadorsone last time to exchange gifts thatthe students had prepared and took agroup photo to commemorate theevent.

On the 2nd of August, the school's CU Club organizedCamp recharge as a follow-up to their CU Camp.After school ended, the camp participants gathered to takepart in Recharge. Firstly, they were split into groups namedafter animals and were asked to make the sounds of thoseanimals. After that, a short icebreaker followed by a sessionof praise and worship was held. In this first session, thespeaker told the attendees about the book of Habakkuk.The book of Habakkuk is a book recording the oracles andprayers of the prophet Habakkuk, one of the 12 minorprophets of the Hebrew Bible. He taught them what thecamp verse meant and how to live by it. During the secondsession, they were taught the 10 commandments and howto remember each of them. He imparted upon them his lifestory to teach them the meaning of love and to love oneanother. A final worship session served to conclude theevent.

On the 18th to 24th of September the Multimedia and Graphic DesignClubs of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) organizedTechfest. The joint event was aimed to enable the students of GraphicsDesign Club and Multimedia Club to display their talents and work throughthe exhibitions held. The WMSKL(1) community was also educated aboutrecent trends and developments in the technology industry such ase-sports, game engineering and graphic design. The event consisted of a3D printing exhibition, a poster designing competition, a typing competitionand an e-sports competition.

A 3D printing exhibition was held in the Dutton Hall, where an ICT teacher,Mr. Gilbert Phuah, graciously lent the school his 3D printer. During theexhibition, students were able to buy models from popular shows andgames such as The Avengers, League of Legends and Spiderman whichwould be printed for them.

At the same time, poster design and web design competitions were held bythe Graphic Design Club where students could design posters andwebpages relating to the theme: "Global Warming". The winners for theposter competition were Lim Kit Mun, Saoussan Mokraoui, Er Min Lin andKim Tae Jun. In addition, a typing competition along with an e-sportstournament took place during recess and lunch. The e-sports tournamentrevolved around the game FIFA on the PlayStation 4. Club members lentthe clubs their consoles and controllers.

The event was successful and achieved its goal of informing the studentsabout the latest technologies.

On the 25th of September, WMSKL(1) heldtheir annual Patriotic Day with the goal ofinstilling awareness of patriotism inWesleyans. In accordance with the event,every student was given a patriotic bandand badge from Projek 57. The eventbegan with the arrival of the guest of honourYB Teo Nie Ching, Deputy Minister ofEducation of Malaysia. The welcomingceremony was accompanied by ChineseDrums and the Boys Brigade drumline. Thiswas followed by the national anthem,school song and opening prayer. Mr WongChee Kheon, Principal of WMSKL(1) wasinvited up on stage to give his speech,followed by a speech from Mr Khor HongYing, Executive Director of MethodistCouncil of Education. The event thenproceeded with several performance suchas the angklung performance by the 9thKuala Lumpur Girl's Brigade and danceperformances of Sarawak, Malay, Indianand Chinese ethnic groups. A speech bythe guest of honour Y.B Teo Nie Ching wasthen made followed by a Gu Zhenperformance, a "Malaysia Baru" videopresentation and a skit performance byIsabelle and Saoussan regarding theimportance of being patriotic. Last but notleast, a token of appreciation was given toY.B Teo Nie Ching by Mr WongChee Kheon.

LEO FUN FAIRpre-exam

On the 24th to 27th of September 2019, the LEO Clubof WMSKL(I) held its annual Pre-Exam Fun Fair. The fairwas a platform for students to release pre-exam stressto enable full clarity of mind and attentiveness duringtheir upcoming exams. Since the first day, the fair hadalready attracted large crowds of students with theirfood sales every break and lunch selling Indo-mee,Spicy Korean Ramen, Bubble Milk Tea and other treats.There were also creative and fun game boothsfacilitated by enthusiastic LEO club members. Withstudents actively taking part in games like Jumpshot (abasketball showdown), River Pong (fun with ping pongballs), Target Practice (a well-loved Nerf Gun challenge)and many more, the Pre Exam Fun Fair was a greatsuccess.
