Talaya had turned to running as a way to find power and strength while waiting on her daughter’s diagnosis and a cure, and she learned that other children were finding strength and inspiration in Talaya’s marathon training. The commitment to a challenging, long route resonated and connected kids who were struggling with an adult’s struggle. Inspired by this connection, Talaya began recruiting celebrities to inspire struggling children who are at risk for losing hope, and to support families who are feeling isolated. Today, CC4C builds and supports teams around families with children with rare and undiagnosed conditions, expanding on Talaya’s initial vision. Each year, CC4C welcomes 12 new families, matching the children with a high school team and providing financial assistance and family-focused health and wellness programs. CC4C provides additional outreach, support, and resources thanks to our staff, board members, and volunteers. With a modest budget just over $500,000, CC4C has served over 100 families and enthusiastically works to reach the high demand of serving more. As CC4C prepares to welcome our new Executive Director, we are excited for our next steps and continued development. Living our core values of teamwork, inspiration, and faith to motivates us in our work to make sure that any child, anywhere, without answers to their illness will have a community to turn to for resources and support to heal, and we are ready for the next leader for this effort.

About the Executive Director role At CC4C, the Executive Director is our chief connector, steward, and advocate. The Executive Director champions our work, empowers our staff, and leverages our resources. Champion in Chief Our Executive Director is the head coach and cheerleader for our mission, board, staff, and the families we serve. Our Executive Director is not just the leader of our organization; they are the leader in building a community for children and families. Teamwork makes this dream work. Building teams is part of our DNA. Our Executive Director motivates and inspires staff and volunteers to lead and serve—and supports them in their work as a running partner. There but for the grace of God… Everyone involved in our organization has a personal story or connection to a child who has struggled with a rare or undiagnosed disease. Our Executive Director understands sacrifice, demonstrates genuine empathy, and leads our mission’s servants. Take care of business Our Executive Director will steward our resources, manage our finances, and develop new business models and revenue streams to expand our impact. This includes leading and finding leads for grant writing, securing major funding, and spearheading sponsorship committees. Clear communication At CC4C, we navigate difficult, challenging, and often heartbreaking journeys. Kind and respectful communication are hallmarks of our Executive Director’s advocacy, collaboration, and executive presence to build and maintain the trust of our families, stakeholders, and the community.
