CHEK Advantages

A Unique Model

CHEK is British Columbia’s oldest private television station and the only independent, employee-owned and operated

television station in North America. Most electronic media and newspapers are owned by larger corporations.

A Great Medium to Advertise in

Television is the most influential, most authoritative medium and the best to communicate brand/image awareness.

Programming Viewers Know

CHEK carries the following programs:

(S) = Simulcast (P) = Pre-Release

Any of the following shows that are in Simulcast would be seen in the Lower Mainland, even if they are running on a

US station at the same time. Pre-Release is released before the US broadcast.

Daytime:

Hot Bench (P) & Judge Judy (S)

Prime Time:

American Idol (S)

America's Funniest Videos (S) X-Factor UK with Simon Cowell (3 days post release from UK)

Television Advertising Statistics Sources: BBM Analytics/NLogic June, 2014

TV Ads Most Effective

In this survey conducted by BBM Analytics in June 2014, respondents were asked a series of questions regarding

their response to advertising delivered by the various media channels. Here are the results:

•Television ads are the most noticeable

•People are most receptive to advertising delivered on TV

•People pay the most attention to advertising delivered on TV

•By a wide margin people's favourite advertisement is a TV commercial

•TV advertising is more emotive than any other form of advertising

PVRs Are Not Killing TV

As of the first 12 weeks of 2015, 83.5% of television viewing is done in live mode (households in the

Vancouver/Victoria market with PVRs). Advertisers and broadcasters can breathe easier knowing that 80%+ of

time all spent watching TV is live and therefore immune to the dreaded fast forward button.
