On November 11, 1970, in Bay City, Texas a handsome baby boy was born to George

and Daisy Davis, whom they named Dexter LeMorris Davis. Dexter was

affectionately known as “Poppa” by all who knew and loved him. He attended

Columbia High School, West Columbia, Texas graduating with the Class of 1989; and

continued his education at Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas.

At an early age Dexter confessed his love for God and was baptized at Greater St. Paul Church,

Brazoria, Texas where he served God until joining Greater Mount Zion Church with his family.

Dexter was married in Holy Matrimony to Denee Davis for 18 years and their union was

blessed with one daughter Kayvonna Davis, two sons Darius and Donovan Davis. In a

previous union with Courtney Faulk he was blessed with one son Dexter Davis Jr and one

daughter JaBria Davis.

Dexter was well known and loved by all. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, and sports. He began

his career at Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Correctional Officer III for 10 years.

Then he became the proud owner of Outreach Disposal for 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother Daisy Davis, paternal grandfather George Davis Sr.,

paternal grandmother Walterine Davis, West Columbia, Texas and maternal grandfather

Daniel Young Sr, Bay City, Texas and uncles Donald Ray Davis (Ruth), West Columbia, Texas

and Elmo Davis (Evelyn), Houston, Texas.

Dexter departed this life on Monday April 1, 2019, at Hermann Memorial Southeast Hospital,

Houston, Texas.

He leaves to cherish his most precious memories with his wife of 18 years Denee Davis of

West Columbia, Texas; two daughters, Kayvonna Davis of West Columbia, Texas and JaBria

Davis of Beaumont, Texas; three sons, Dexter Davis Jr, of Beaumont, Texas, Darius and

Donovan Davis both of West Columbia, Texas; one godson, Jonathan Collins of Beaumont,

It’s hard to believe, you’re no longer here

Words cannot describe how this makes me feel

You’ve passed on to the other side

Though I wish you could still be here with me

You were a remarkable man

Dependable, loving and caring

You were the center of my world

You were one in a million to me

You made me laugh, you made me smile

You were my companion and dear friend

You were a wonderful husband from beginning to end

Your love showed me how good life could be

Your death showed me how cruel, life sometimes is

But good or bad, life must go on

Even though it’s not easy to carry on

Forever will you live on, in my heart and mind

Forever will you live in my thoughts and never die

With love always, I remember you

With hope I believe we’ll meet again

Somewhere, Somehow, Someplace

I love and Miss you,

Denee

You gave no one a last farewell

Nor ever said good-bye

You were gone before we knew it

And only God knows why

A million times we will miss you

A million ties we will cry

If love alone could have saved you

You never would have died

In life we loved you dearly

In death we love you still

In our hearts you hold a place

No one else can fill

It broke our hearts to lose you

But you didn’t go alone

For part of us went with you

The day God took you home

We will meet again someday

I know in a better place

I thank God He made you our brother

While you were here on earth

Love,

Regina

A precious one from us is gone

A voice we loved is stilled

A place is vacant in our hearts

Which never can be filled

And after a lonely heartache

And many a silent tear

But always a beautiful memory

Of one we loved so dear

Love,

Dad & Hattie

He never looked for praises

He was never one to boast

He just went on quietly working

For the ones he loved the most

His dreams were seldom spoken

His wants were very few

And most of the time his worries

Went unspoken too

He was there…A firm foundation

Through all our storms of life

A sturdy hand to hold on to

In times of stress and strife

A true friend we could turn to

When times were good or bad

One of our greatest blessings

The man that we called dad

We love and Miss you,

Your children
